The seed of Rimthurs was planted as an unstructured idea in the mid-nineties as I discovered Black-Metal and took a more solid form some year later as I learned to play the guitar. At first it naturally sounded like pure crap but the more I learned to master the instrument the better it sounded. From the very first beginning I decided to write all lyrics only in Swedish as they all deal about Nordic myth and folklore. The music was, and of course still is, rather raw and fast yet melodic Black-Metal.
Some test-recordings of songs was made on an old 4-channel cassette porta and in 1998 the first "real" recording "Bortom Nidafjäll" (Beyond the Nida-mountains) was made with the same equipment. Although the songs was good the soundquality was not. It was never released and never will, so don..t bother to ask.... This was also the first time Mordh appeared on Bassguitar. Most of the songs was later re-recorded for the selftitled debut-demo which was recorded during 2002-03.
Between that first attempt and the real debut not much happened as I mostly put all energy into the Death-Metal band I was playing with at the time. But Rimthurs were always in my mind and I knew I had to do something about it....
And so I did.
