About Me

Spiritually: I am a Christian (not to be confused with "religious"). I love God & am amazed daily at all He does for us. He is awesome...& without Him, I am not. I'm far from perfect, but I strive to be pleasing to Him...& to love others as He loved us. (not always the easiest thing to do!!) I'm as active in my church as my schedule permits...and love to surround myself with people who share like beliefs & strong values.
Intellectually: I am articulate & well-rounded. I love learning new things. I love to read. Most of my pet peeves have something to do with the way people seem to kill the English language (both spoken & written). Yeah...I'm weird! =)
Socially: "Dime con quien andas, y te dire quien eres." (roughly translated..."tell me who you're hangin with, & I'll tell you who you are") I'm a total people-person. (a gene I apparently inherited from my dad) =D I love good conversation. I also REALLY appreciate quick-witted humor (or "humour" for my canadian friends). My family tends to be somewhat sarcastic (um...that might be an understatement)...never mean-spirited....but I DO enjoy being around people who can keep up!! I like to go to live sporting events more than watching them on TV. I like to have gobs of people over...& cook loads of food & play games & such. I love spending time with my family & friends. I tend to spend more time with people younger than myself. That could be because most people my age are either married or are still wasting their lives away partying, which is not my cup of tea, because I am around mostly younger people, or because so many people my age just seem so OLD!! Probably, a combination of the 3. Volleyball & bowling are fun times for me... One of my favorite things is attending live stage productions. The theater has always been one of my passions.
Emotionally: I have issues. =/ lol Well...don't we all?? I'm kidding for the most part. I try to drop off my "baggage" once in a while....though I'll admit one particular bad situation left me scarred for life. Thankfully, I grew & learned from it. "And you learn...& you learn...with every good-bye, you learn."
Physically: 5'7", 125 lbs....boring really dark brown hair and eyes. And...apparently,the most common face in the world. It is rare that one week will go by without someone telling me that I look like someone they know. And...it's never anyone GOOD (like a celebrity or something). It's always like..."my ex-boyfriend's sister's neighbor". Blah. Ok...moving on. While I can't really do anything about my looks, per se...there is something else I'll touch on. This has gotten me in trouble on some Christian sites...but I DO believe that we should take care of our bodies. Right now, my job keeps me fit...but if it didn't, *I* would! I'm not talking about having a model's body (though if you do...God bless you!! lol) This is not about being shallow...or vain...it's about taking care of the bodies that God gave us. It's so important for one's own self-esteem...& for reflecting what we want to reflect about ourselves. *stepping off of soap box*
Other: I am a dance instructor. I teach tap, clogging, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop & novelty. I currently teach at 2 dance studios. Between the 2 of them....19 classes per week. I love my job. I love the kids. I love my co-workers. I am very blessed to be able to do what I love! =D
I am also a long-term substitute teacher for the local high school. I teach Spanish II. Those kids are, for the most part, great (& make up a good portion of my myspace "friends" lol) I also love that job!
I have a small (very small) business called "Leyni's Looks" that I run out of my house. I paint wearables & do portrait sketches. There's a sample of my work in my pics. It's not a great scan, but you get the idea. Contact me if you want to know more!
Most importantly, I am my son's mom. My son, Kai, is the coolest kid I know (and I know LOTS!) I learn from him all the time.
I do not have a favorite color.
I do not have a favorite movie.
Favorite sounds: Children laughing (particularly my own)...& water
Favorite smell: FOOD!! (eating is one of my favorite pastimes!)
Remember: You can pick your nose..and you can pick your friends...but you can't wipe your friends on the couch.
Instead of setting this to private I spend hours each night blocking users I don't know. Only 157,707,110 to go. That's how I keep it real.
I like: the truth...no matter what it is. ...the sound of rain. ...good conversation. ...Snickers. ...loyal people. ...baby feet. ...Sonic ice. ...hugs. ...feeling appreciated. ...competition (with games/academics...NOT over a man)...reading Taco Bell hot sauce packets ...loving. ...being loved.
I don't like: most green vegetables. ...the song on the Six Flags commercial. ...people who aren't "real"...fast-food ...fair-weather friends. ...feet (other than babies) ...stupidity. ...being taken for granted. ...feeling confused. ...anything vanilla-scented.
One can never have too many friends...but just FYI, I'm not looking here for anything beyond that. =D
