Introducing Hayley May, the soulful songstress with a rich, sweet style.
The Halifax born singer/songwriter documents much of her own personal experience, and uses her ability to empathise with those around her when crafting her songs. This provides the bridge by which her audience are able to connect with her.
From a young age she discovered she had a passion for singing which she developed while performing with her school’s mixed voice choir. As her appreciation for the intricacies of vocal arrangement grew, she began to create her own melodies.
Artists such as Lauryn Hill, Prince and Michael Jackson remain amongst Hayley May’s main influences, and she feels she has learnt a lot from their music about the creativity involved in songwriting.
She has been invited to feature on a range of collaborative projects with likes of London-based artists K.I.N.E.T.I.K, Pintsize, and TB. She is also the featured vocalist on JáLeF’s current release ‘Take It Slow’, which is receiving frequent club/radio airplay in London and the Midlands.
She has performed at London venues Neighbourhood and Ten West (Ladbroke Grove), but has also performed in popular nightspots around the country like Oracle and Boutique (Leeds).
Hayley May was picked up by ReignOn Records, a London-based independent label who share her vision and have seen her grow from strength to strength. They are very excited, about what is to come for this rising star, and reflect that she has developed into a magnificent prospect, not just for her home town of Halifax, but for the UK.
At this point in time, she is exploring her own creativity in the JáLeF studios writing and recording her much anticipated, and as yet untitled, debut album.
