Independent Music Award Winner 2007 for Best Song(Nu Song) Jam category. Long time freinds, Marshall and Ted started writing together in the spring of 2002. In the fall of 2002 bass player Katrina Leigh entered the band. The band recorded their album at Fox Force Five Studios with J.J. Blair manning the controls(Johnny Cash) and long time friend and pro powerehouse Jimmy Paxson on the drums. Ted and Marshall mixed most of the full length themselves, on a vintage 60's API console with no automation.
The band released their full length album and a six song e.p. in the spring of 2006. The band has been playing aroung the L.A. area regularly since . The band was notified that they are a winner in the IMA's (Independent Music Awards) 2007. Besides a plaque the band received a year long marketing campaign through The Planetary Group, Shorefire Media and The Musicians Resource Group.The Mars Hall was selected as a winner in the Independent Music Awards 2007 for a recording of a song called "Nu Song". "Nu Song" is available as part of "The Planet Ted" album and e.p. and was released nationally on the MRG Labels "Now Here This cd" "Now Here This" is one of the most heavily downloaded cds at E-Music.com.
In December 2008 "Nashville" was released as part of Relix Magazines holidy Sampler. 100,000 copies were distributed nation wide. The Mars Hall is no stranger to the rigors of the road. Marshall Thompson has spent much of the last 6 years and a half touring with Platnum Recording artist JEM, The Breakestra, Rhythm Roots All Stars,Hollywood Recording Artist Josh Kelley, Samantha Stolenwerk,Hollywood recording Artist Leroy, Interscope Recording Artist Duke Daniels, and Indie Faves Mr. Jones and the Previous. Marshall has toured the world headlining shows in the U.S., Great Britain, Ireland, Japan and Australia. He also opened shows for Dave Matthews Band, Blackeyed Peas, Violent Femmes, Heart, etc. and has appeared performing on radio and TV talk shows(Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen, David Letterman) as well as a appearance with Jamie Kennedy .
