The Decoys

About Me

The Decoys have played numerous gigs around Australia & have thrilled audiences with their energetic live show. They have supported The Living End, done live to air shows on radio stations 3RRR & 3PBS & have appeared on Channel 31. What are they like? Mmmm, good question. Think rootsy, bluesy, rockin’ flavoured surf/swamp guitar noir and you might be on the way to understanding The Decoys. But then again you’d be nowhere near it, because I failed to mention their rockabilly rumblings and power pop so sparkling that it’s been known to induce blindness in some folks! With song titles like Capsicum Spray, Judge Judy, My Parking Inspector Voodoo Doll, Witness Protection Plan, D24, Don’t Cry Jesus, & A Special Place in Hell, some would say they have a problem with authority, but The Decoys play their own brand of surf/punk/psychobilly music which manages to have a bit of social comment/conscience about life & the way we live it.The Decoys are a 3-piece band comprising of Darren Garth, who handles lead vocals & plays big old Gretsch guitars. Slappin’ Frank Grillo on upright bass & gymnastic-like tricks and the reckless Joel Steinki on drums. The best way to define The Decoys is to catch them at a gig and experience the sound for yourself, or simply listen to or download our mp3's above.
