Bay Area Native and San Francisco resident, DJ Select got his start in the mid 90’s spinning hip-hop, funk and reggae at South Bay parties and on college radio stations like KZSU, Stanford. Holding down two weekly residencies in Palo Alto, Select honed his skills as a party rocker and crowd pleaser for 4 years before moving to San Francisco in 2002.“Soulclash†is how he describes his style, seamlessly mixing sophisticated selections of Hip Hop, Electro, Disco, Rare Groove, Afro-Beat, House, Dancehall and Classic, Modern and Electric SOUL.Whether warming up the crowd for ground breaking artists such as The Coup, Redman, Ladybug Mecca and The Rebirth, or sharing the booth with notables like J. Boogie, D Sharp, Sake One, Apollo and Biz Markie this local DJ is dropped world class sets at legendary parties and events such as Timeless, PST, Deeper Roots and The Bridge is Over.In the past few years Select has been keeping himself busy playing famous San Francisco venues/clubs such as The Warfield, Mezzanine, Ruby Skyy, Poleng Lounge, Milk and Club SIX to name a few.
