Darktown Rounders

About Me

Back in the day, music in bars and dance halls was real. It was fun, a catalyst for letting go, getting turned on, forgetting your troubles, and celebrating life. If just for an evening, performers and audience shared that celebration. Whether it was the floor-stompin', glass-rattlin', good-golly-miss Molly rhythms of rock and roll, the gut punching emotional impact of the blues, the plaintive stories of country, or the liberating improvisation of jazz, the audience felt it and responded. No pyrotechnics, no guitar-smashing histrionics, no sequined costumes, no smoke, no mirrors. Just honest musicianship and a crowd inspired to to rise up off their ass and dance!
So where, today, can you find good music, raw in its honesty and fun? Look no further. You'll find it all in the Darktown Rounders. Influenced by traditional American genres--blues, country, swing and early rock and roll--the Darktown Rounders' performances show the bands' deep love and respect for the music and for one another. They bring freshness, originality and an infectious energy to all these forms, designed to bring even the most reluctant dancers to their feet.
So do yourself a favor. When the Darktown Rounders come to town, go on and do it ... have some fun and forget your cares. Come to the show. You deserve it. The Darktown Rounders feature former members of famous (and infamous) acts including: Wayne "the train" Hancock, Danni Leigh, Lovers and Strangers, and Sex Farm. They represent collectively more than 30 years of live music performance and songwriting experience.
