Upryz grew up in a musical family. His father Herbert is a provocative composer and multi-instrumentalist. Internationally acclaimed pianist and composer brother Donal ( www.leonellismusic.com ) began training Daniel on Piano at age 4. Later, via the influence of older brother Brian (funk session player), the electric bass became the musical hub of Upryz' universe. Growing up in the Fox home he heard a steady stream of Thelonius Monk and Igor Stravinsky, J. S. Bach and Herbie Hancock. Later on the grip of funk, Hip-Hop, and experimental electronic styles took hold. Music technology - sampling, sequencing, and the recording arts became additional methods of expression. Now, in addition to the aforementioned skills, Upryz teaches teens how to realize their creative dreams using music technology as the full time Technical Director of Zumix, Inc. a one of a kind afterschool program in East Boston, MA.
