Heaven's Cry

About Me

“It's a time when new forms of media are emerging, and changing the world we live in. A new breath of artistic ideas is taking place! Such ideas have already launched a new episode of human experience into our laps, an episode full of unseen wonders and responsibilities.” –O.Q.
Heaven's Cry was formed in the beginning of the 90's as a modern rock band with a progressive tangent. From a French part of Canada in the city of Montreal, Pierre St-Jean(vocals, guitars) and Sylvain Auclair(vocals, bass) decided to join their efforts, building a dual voice oriented band. Both had played clubs in several bands before HC and had various experiences in songwriting. The time had come to get on track with a serious project that would reflect their aspirations in a proper way.
The band has been performing live for a while in front of considerable crowds, opening for bands like Marillion, Saga, Rick Emmett(Triumph). They recorded their first demo in 1993 and gained an immediate response in Europe. The demo was named 3rd album of the year in the prestigious German magazine "Heavy Oder Was". Olaf Quinzanos(guitars) joined a couple of months after and brought an original and inspired sound to the band.
In 1995, the band signed with a Canadian label (Hypnotic Records) and recorded their first album called "Food For Thought Substitute" in early 1996. The album was released in Japan the same year and earned 13th metal album of the year in the reputed "Burrn! Magazine". It was released in Europe and Canada the following year.
In 1997, most important European magazines finally got their hands on the album. Reviews were more than flattering for HC, voted album of the month in Germany, Italy, Holland, Czech Republic and many more.
After some changes in the band line-up, René Lacharité(drums) and Eric Jarrin(guitar) joined the band in late 2000. With a new vital power growing in the band, HC focused its efforts on songwriting and getting ready to play live. The goal was clear; they had to get back in front of the public as soon as possible. A year and a half later, HC started to record their follow up, “Primal Power Addiction”. By having members of the band working closely on this project (Olaf Quinzaños as visual designer, Pierre St-Jean signing the production and engineering), HC made sure their need to present themselves accurately to a wider audience was met.
“Primal Power Addiction” was released in The Netherlands in October 2002 on the reputed Dutch label, DVS Records. The feedback has been enormous. They crossed the sea to be part of the “ProgPower Festival” in The Netherlands followed by a small tour supporting “Treshold” in Belgium, Germany and Denmark. A release in these countries occurred before the end of 2002 and many more during 2003.
HC is presently finalising a pre-producting that will lead to the recording of their third album. The future will bring much more from Heaven’s Cry, as they could not be more present with their lyrics and music through these dynamic times of change.
