Jay “I-Hop--” Westbrook was born March 6, 1987 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been making beats for people since he was in the 8th grade (2001). He has made beats for plenty artist, such as; Tango Redd, D.O.B., J-Nicks, Lil’ Mickey, and C.B.Y.A! just to name a few. He loves all types of music, in fact he has played three instruments in his life the trumpet, the piano, and the violin.
Jay is one forth of the rap group known as C.B.Y.A! (which consist of Burrell "MACK11" Mack, Randy "Cadillac" Riggins and Lawrence “L” Tolbert), the president of his own genre of music called The Gutta Fam. (which consist the CEO Jordan “Black Angel” Laing), and also one third of the production group of The Metroknomes (which consist of Tirron “THAI” Jackson and Jordan “Black Angel” Laing.)
He is also a beat maker for all of the groups named above. Jay “I-HOP” Westbrook just recently completed Omni-Tech’s music classes and has Achived His Certification in Recording and Audio Engineering. Jay has been recording and editing music since 2003 for C.B.Y.A! He uses various programs for recording and beat making such as; Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Cue Base, Reason, Fruity Loops, and a MPC just to name a few.
Jay has street credibility too he has cameos in music videos such as DJ Unk’s “Walk It Out”, One Chance’s (Usher’s Group) “Look At Her”, B.H.I. And Lil’ Jon’s “Poole Palace”, And So So Def’s Young Capone’s “What It Do.” Jay is a hard worker who loves what he does music wise and would love to make it a long lasting career for his life!
