A Classically-trained singer with a house-afire voice
Rebeqa Rivers' vocals are at once deep, warm, and chrystaline. With an effortless grace she traverses and blends Jazz, Opera, Folk, and World Music. Favoring Jazz kissed by North African, Indian, and Latin influences her crisp, bluesy vocals often create in her listener a sense of homesickness for a place one has never been.
Born and raised in rural Alaska, Rebeqa began Classical voice training at 15, meanwhile performing jazz in local venues. At 17 she relocated to Chicago to attend a music conservatory. In Chicago, Rebeqa's free time was spent performing jazz with local groups, including a spot as a guest vocalist with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. In 2003 Rebeqa recorded her first CD of original material, this time branching off into a grassroots folk sound. Since then Rebeqa has settled in Seattle where she performs and works as a private Vocal and Performance Consultant.
