Joshua Rush

About Me

Singer-songwriter Joshua Rush began singing in the church where his mother was a secretary at the ripe old age of two. Raised on gospel songs – with a little country and western thrown in for good measure – Joshua grew up with music in his soul. On a haggard old guitar he bought from a homeless man for four dollars, Joshua began forming the chords and voicings that would define his musical style. When Joshua’s father, an accomplished musician in his own right, encouraged him to “pick out a tune and stop banging on that thing,” Joshua’s skill as a musician began to flourish. Broadening his musical tastes to include diverse influences ranging from Merle, Garth, and The Louvin Brothers - to The Beach Boys, Weezer and Jimmy Eat World, Joshua developed a unique sound and style all his own. After spending a few years in the songwriting community in Orange County, California, Joshua decided to make the bold move and try his luck in Nashville. Within six months, he had signed a publishing deal with an independent company (Sharp Objects), and was becoming an in demand session singer. Combining dynamic melodies, tight songwriting, and a powerful voice, Joshua has begun carving out a place for himself in the Nashville music scene.
