About Me

I was a born and raised in (what's left of) New Orleans, and I've always wondered if that has effected my music in any way. There's nothing more timeless than a plain ol' song...It's acoustic qualities, interesting intriguing lyrics, rich textural harmonies. The best songs write themselves...I just sit back and let 'em happen. Occasionally, I'll dream a song, and upon waking, I'll write it down...Makes things easy that way, saves alot of time and effort. I like to use imagery not usually found in mainstream music...The lyrics have to interest me or else it goes into the scrap bin. I think it's fun to write beautiful, whimsical melodies to accompany deeply disturbing lyrics...There's a seemless parodox there that's like not being able to look away from a tragic highway accident. If you listen between the lines, there's actually humour buried in there, albeit a bit dry and/or sardonic... I used to be in a band called MONTREAL, where I sang and play wacky, maniacal flute (think early '90's grunge meets Jethro Tull), but Katrina has displaced some of the members, so I have no idea what the hell's goin' on with that... Now I'm in an acoustic ensemble called THE MID CITY RAMBLERS, where I do much the same, except acousticier... I'm currently working on a Rock Opera I wrote in the wake of Hurricane Katrina...It's a conceptual work based on, you guessed it...Katrina. I'm recording all the tracks myself (I usually record that way all the time), as I'm the only one who knows the songs! It's an unapologetic mirror reflection of some of the events and attitudes that took place in the wake of the storm that the media has been trying to sweep under the carpet and downright deny. My own accounts are used as the basic anchor to the story, and it spreads out from there, all based on actual people and events. Music is a labour of love for me, and I'm not out to get rich and famous from it...Fame and fortune would probably destroy it...
