A brief introduction: This german old-school-pop three-piece - founded in Munich (München) Bavaria in the autumn of ´91 - named itself after the well known short story Bartleby the scrivener by Herman Melville author of the famous book Moby Dick. Coming out of different musical scenes, all three shared common enthusiasm for 6Ts Pop and Beat music, like Creation, Kinks, Velvet Underground, Monks, Byrds, Pink Floyd amongst others, as well as late 7Ts early 8Ts Independent, DIY-Pop and Underground music. A pretty unique guitar-orientated pop sound emerged, but with the distinction of a Lo-Fi edge to it and melodic original tunes that were built around lyrics approaching Zen-philosophy. Someone described it as a confluence of Bobby Fuller Four and the Television Personalities, but I´d say they took it even further out. The two songs for their first 45 were recorded spontaniously in only two hours on a 4-track portastudio while rehearsing and were released in November'91 on the new found Munich based Little Teddy Recordings label as a one-sided seven inch single, which is by now a piece of highly collectable wax. Due to the amazing feedback during their ten years of existence, they recorded more than a hundred songs, for almost 30 different labels from a lot of different countries (you can count them if you want. The disco is up in the Blog section). Up-to-date they played more than 500 concerts all over the world. They are/were, on guitar & vocals, Patrick Nobby Linsbauer; on bass guitar & vocals, Andy Firebug Freiberger; and on drums & percussion, Armin Giorgio Kasper.
