About Me

First of all, the root of the name is "distaste." I am a good speller and I know how to spell the word "disaster," which is not the name. The name is Distaster.Longtime Athens, Georgia songwriter and performer, previously known for the bands Radio:Tahiti, Broom Room Annex, Autoscope and Refuse Factory. Looking for a fall release of the new album, "Kountry Kaliphate."

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: distaster.blogspot.com
Band Members: Jon Lester, almost everything. Other players are recruited on an as-needed basis; I'm enjoying a break from having a monolithic, permanent band lineup and all the headaches it tends to invite.
Influences: Gary Numan, David Bowie, Devo, Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Ultravox, John Foxx, Joy Division, New Order, Bauhaus, Love & Rockets, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Police, Nine Inch Nails, M, My Bloody Valentine, The Cars (first 3 albums), Kate Bush, Talk Talk, Alien Sex Fiend, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Nick Lowe, Velvet Underground, Art of Noise, Psychedelic Furs, Thomas Dolby, Jonathan Richman, Sparks, Talking Heads, Heaven 17, Chrome / Helios Creed, Sisters of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, Einsterzende Neubaten, Trio, Throbbing Gristle, Tangerine Dream, Wall of Voodoo, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, many more...
Sounds Like: I hear people say Joy Division most often, probably because of my vocal range, and Bowie and Numan, of course, but sometimes I get really unexpected comparisons. Someone even said Uriah Heep! I hope you'll listen and decide for yourself.
Record Label: Distaster Records and Sordid Past CD Manufacturing
Type of Label: None
