About Me

wax on, wax off, wax the lot . . . the johnny cancerfingers sound system is now available for parties, one-off events, as band support, or for residencies in or around yorkshire in houses, pubs, clubs, bars, windmills, caravans, caves and barges . . . we used to spin, drink and drop every thursday at brb where we also hosted action spectaculars with obtuse names - such as leperfest, sweet-wet-sweatfest, breastfest and festerfest . . . if you're out and bored in suburbia of a friday then we have a residency at the sand bar (town street, horsforth) so come and say hola y ebola! . . . occasionally at carpe diem on chewsdays too (same rules, louder music) . . . we've played at milo, the lounge, santiago, the infamous kirkstall castle, orgasmic (york), the white swan (gundon), a disused mill (keighley), a dirty, great farmhouse in the middle of the peak district and at a buddhist wedding in a masonic lodge! . . . we have put on gigs by such luminaries as middleman, the brute chorus, red go green stop, the invention, cassette jam, royal vendetta, out from animals, the jutes, synthia, pushbike army, tigerbomb, beans on toast, hannah wilson, victors, the fine line, quintessential, the strollers, hijak oscar, the golden age, the listeners and boss caine . . . we love dirty, underground rock n'roll tinged with trippy acid melodies, vintage beats, fizzly-grizzly-electro, crackhouse-punk, incendiary funk and acousto-hip-hop . . . we cater for the connoisseurs, the crazies and the easily pleased and confused . . . fee is negotiable . . . we're in this for the music and the mash-up not the moolah . . . come have a drink with us sometime . . . or at least forward us some porn

wild beasts - assembly

Wild Beasts' debut release on Domino is a bewilderingly brilliant, brave, bulging, buoyant, beacon of invention. Take the knee-jerk frenzy and nonsensical squealings of the earlier Bad Sneakers' singl...

super furry animals @ leeds town hall

Knowing the SFA's predilection for self-indulgence and obtuseness there was always a danger that tonight would smelt into a Hey Venus-heavy homage to wishy-washiness. Tha...

leeds festival - titman (mainly) signed stage

Am I missing something? Not only is the unsigned stage sponsored by a generically mundane high street retailer (whom I refuse to gift the satisfaction of a mention) but a lot of the bands on it are qu...
