About Me

i'm a mixture of conflicting traits that very few people understand. i suffer from a "higher purpose" complex, only i don't really believe in any higher purposes so it gets confusing. i fluctuate and then linger somewhere between narcissus and goldmund. i admire victor laszlo, but i live somewhere between rick and ilsa. i don't like to use capital letters when i type. i have many more hobbies than i can keep up with or even remember. i'm constantly involved in some sort of project, usually intended as a gift for someone. i adore creating things. i have a love/hate relationship with sleep. actually, i have a love/hate relationship with most things. i love affection and crave it. i'm a bit of an epicurean, and my favorite sense is touch. i don't really like to talk on the phone, but i get excited when people call me all the same. i want to go to new places and learn new things. i want to learn about the things that make you excited and why. i'm fascinated by passions. i really like to get excited about things, and it's even better when i can get excited about something with a partner. i usually only wear my nice clothes when i have to do laundry. sometimes i mess up my hair on purpose. i get a kick out of using large words inappropriately. when i'm in an emotional situation, my ears get hot and turn kind of red. i like to read in my hammock. i work a lot-- usually at least 12 hours a day, but give me a good excuse to get away, and i'll gladly give you my time.

My Interests

gemology, singing, reading, art projects, music, ideas, numbers, metals, stones, dancing, gender politics, sitting around thinking, one-way knowing glances, sleep-inhibiting transgressions, tumultuousness, penchants, meeting amazing people, sudoku, fantastic conversation, learning new things, making things, singing in showers, cost/benefit ratios, hammocks, ends and means, grey.

I'd like to meet:

talented geniuses, a dance partner, a karaoke partner, someone else who eats ice cream for breakfast, non-introspective artists, someone who will do my laundry, and any other fun and fantastic people in seattle. i appreciate brilliance in all forms, and i adore people who have it. there isn't really a set pattern for what i like-- i enjoy many different combinations of traits and people who have wonderful surprises in their personalities. i would like to meet people who will make neat things for me even when it's not my birthday (and go out of their way to do something special when it is).

Music:

the tragically hip, aidan lucey, jenny lewis, death cab for cutie, moby, the killers, kings of convenience, beck (sea change style), rilo kiley, teenage fanclub, my weird mix cds, puccini, verdi, wagner, sinatra, maybe some other music, too.

Movies:

lately i've been doing a lot of choreography for different groups. take a look and see what you think about this little number i did. i'd love to get your feedback, and i hope this energizes you. remember, god loves khaki pants, so don't hold back! casablanca, cinema paradiso, the thomas crown affair (but only the new one), about a boy, anything with bill murray, any marx brothers film, historical documentaries of all sorts, flight from death.

Television:

i very rarely watch tv, but i like family guy, the colbert report, the history channel, and antiques road show.

Books:

on caring, flux, nickel and dimed, stiffed, cat's eye, east of eden, the awakening, the pain behind the mask, a short history of nearly everything, mark twain's non-fiction works, story of the eye, narcissus and goldmund, anything by susan bordo or michael kimmel, goodnight moon, the runaway bunny.

Heroes:

actually, i have a hard enough time just listing people that i *sort of* like. maybe we can build to this "hero" business.
