Simon Hawes is the 'Nocturnal' events resident DJ and a key player in the Nocturnal Groove : DJ & Events project.
Starting out at as DJ, playing alongside the likes of Liquid People and Nick Bridges in his home town of Cambridge, Simon has since built extensive experience within the industry; working for a range of independent labels and club promotions, both as a promoter and a DJ.
After graduating from University, Simon started out at Peppermint Jam before moving on to work for Nocturnal Groove where he established a long standing association with the label. He has worked at the label for almost 3 years and has been involved with the ‘Nocturnal’ events since 2004. He has worked closely on successful ‘Nocturnal’ residencies at AKA and Turnmills as well as events at Global Gathering and God’s Kitchen. Simon is now working with Nocturnal Groove to take their key artists and well known ‘Nocturnal’ events to a wider audience via Nocturnal Groove : DJs & Events.
Behind the decks, Simon is a versatile DJ who has performed extensively throughout the U.K and Europe. He has recently played at a venues such at AKA (London), Turnmills (London), Air (Birmingham), Pacha (Vilnius) and Savannah (Ibiza). His style is diverse, taking in deep and soulful sessions through to tougher tracks with a more electronic vibe. Through his DJ residency with ‘Nocturnal’ he regularly plays alongside The Shapeshifters, as well as the likes of Frankie Knuckles, DJ Dimitri From Paris, Michael Gray, ATFC, CJ Mackintosh and Jon Cutler.
