Never stopping and never settling down, Greg Pidcock's unique blend of house techno and progressive vibes has been developing around the world since his love affair with dance music began. Born in 1988, this tri-national's (CAN/UK/USA) family moved from Calgary to Bangkok when he was 6 years old. It was as this journey began that Greg began to discover electronica.
Jump to Quito, Ecuador 2001, Greg begins mixing vinyl. Soon, he is DJing at electronic music events in Lima, Peru at just 15 years old. The cutting edge progressive and tech sounds being played at the time were a big influence. At 16, his family relocated to India, forcing Greg to adapt to the house music deprived streets of Mumbai. Not giving up, Greg trained hard and joined forces with India's premier dance music promoters: Submerge. This led to his first club sets in India, which gave him a clean slate to really find his personal groove, and get people dancing. It was lucky his parents were so supportive of the late nights and drum beats from such a young age!
When high school ended, University began, landing Greg in Montreal to study Digital Media & Cyber Art at Concordia University. Montreal has opened many new doors and developed his sound even further; from playing small underground loft parties with local heroes to playing with legends like James Holden, Stephane K, John Creamer, Angel Moraes, and Tone Depth. Mere years before, Greg was buying Tone's records, now it was time to manage his new label: Bad Pony Records. He also started a very promising production duo with Bobby Savage, which will be providing him with new ammo as the months pass.
He held a monthly residency at Cherry - one of the city's legendary house music venues before it closed down in the Spring of 09. He has also played around Montreal at: Igloofest, Circus Afterhours, Business, Academy, Salon Daome, Jupiter Room, Velvet, Se7en, Bar D'Hiver, Terrasses Bonsecours, as well as long list of loft parties.
Greg's sound now revolves around eclectic dance music, a relentless search for high quality beats and a drive to keep the dance floor on their toes. 2008 has been a fast moving year for this young talent and 2009 promises yet another evolution in dance music.
