About Me

Vocatus Atque Non Vocatus Deus Aderit..."A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity." -Buddha....A connoisseur of simple pleasures. Addicted to coffee, a good meal, new anything, random acts of kindness, vivid colors, old movies, good photography, trees, the ocean, writing, a well-written book, and brilliant conversation. I love to drive fast; hate being in the passenger seat. I have an endless capacity to love. I love cooking. There is no spoon. I’m constantly shifting from anticipation to living in the moment. I love taking pictures of unsuspecting people and places. An eternal optimist; I’m at peace with the view immediately surrounding, and angry at the state of the world beyond. I believe I am the only entity responsible for my actions. I admire my children’s perception of the world surrounding them. I have a scar to remind me I once ran with scissors. I loathe people who's word is worthless; the 'keeping up with the Joneses' mentality; argumentative rightaholics; people who chew with their mouths open or a lack of manners in general; bad handshakes, bad teeth, and the end of football season.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I would like to bake my dad his favorite Red Velvet Cake...I would like to have coffee with Paolo Coelho and Jim Morrison; dinner with Anthony Bourdain and Will Farrell... Tea with Queen Elizabeth I and Eddie Izzard...Ride a roller coaster with Steve Nash and John Lynch...I am attracted to those who are genuine, open and honest: those who seek to understand and not always be understood. Be Aware. People who keep coming back... I fall in love with those who make me laugh. Be fun. People who have moments of brilliance immediately followed by collisions with stationary objects: You are not alone.....

Birthdays.Hayden, Colorado. Soft brown velour couches, Lucite grapes, and those weird but-ever-so-stylish yarn and nail pictures marked the home where I celebrated number 4. The significance of rememb...

Buenas Noches, baby.

The plane feels like a meat locker. The lights are out and I missed the row with blankets. Sunburned and exhausted from the day, I am glad to be closer to home. Each time I leave the US, I s...

Chuck Norris...re-revisited.

One man that has always been at the top of my gross-out list has recently moved to my good side, all because of what a few people wrote about him. I give you a few gems from thechucknorrisfacts.com-Ch...

With a flip of the paper...

I have recently been introduced to the idea that there are behaviors or inclinations that are passed down genetically. I always knew the obvious, i.e. if I display a behavior, my child will mimic that...

Say hello to my little friend.

I have a spider in my bathroom. I first noticed him a few days ago on the wall above the tile in my shower. We watched one another intensely; wondering if the other was going to make a move. I decided...

When life is going well and events in our lives are progressing according to plan, spirituality is more often than not, put to the wayside. However, faced with challenging situations like illness, dea...

Amour

Throughout recorded history, love has burned in the hearts of composers, writers, painters, and playwrights, and smoldered in those of parents, children, and friends. Love, primal, passionate, and pur...

Sweet Dough

The majority of the people to whom I'm closest and admire most have what the majority would call a mouth-filter issue or malfunction. I love people who say exactly what their think...

Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't d...
