Philadelphia's Hans the Double formed in early 2006. Guitarist Gina Fontana was unemployed and advertised her talents on Craigslist, bringing together bass player Mike DiEva, drummer Nick Biscardi, and vocalist/guitarist Justin Lerner. Taking their moniker from a five-second scene from Pee-Wee's Playhouse, the quartet functioned fast despite the drastic difference in both age, geography, and sleep schedules, releasing their first album, 2006's "Dossier" after just three months of being together.
The following year brought about the departure of Fontana and the exploration into a more raw sound for the band, mostly attributed to Lerner taking on sole responsibility of the guitar work. Now a trio, the band engineered their second release entirely out of the basement of Biscardi's home over the course of weekends for the latter part of the year, releasing "Vessels" in late 2007.
The new year saw the band venture further away from home. A slot in Harrisburg's Millenium Music Conference connected them with musicians from all over. The following month, the band set off on tour through the northeast. However, upon returning home, the group would go on to disband just a month later, calling it quits in April 2008. Since the split, Lerner and Biscardi have gone on to form the studio outfit, Pilot Cloud .
Over the course of their time together, they independently released three albums, survived the loss of a founding member, found themselves as musicians, and toured the Northeastern United States. They have met the loveliest and the most despicable people this universe has to offer, wrote zillions of e-mails, and made just as many phone calls. They saw their fair share of beds, couches, and floors of every caliber.
With "Everything is Wrong With Everything" , live and demo versions of the few tracks written since the release "Vessels" are being given the light of day along with alternate versions of some of the early material. It, along the group's first two albums, is available on a number of different websites for free download for anyone to enjoy.
