"QUOTE OF A LIFETIME"
The life we lead must be worth living. - Author Unknown
In the early 90’s a young aspiring artist, songwriter and producer named Carlos Huey moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a professional career in music. Not long after he arrived, it was through a friend he met Music World Entertainment CEO Matthew Knowles. After a live acapella audition for Knowles, Carlos was presented with and signed an exclusive management agreement and immediately it was time to get to work.
Under Knowles, Carlos developed his industry knowledge, vocals, stage presence, singing, and songwriting skills and was asked to become the lead singer of one of Knowles’ R&B male singing groups Adagio. After various artist showcases, live performances and studio sessions Carlos’ artistic prowess began to take root impressing every ear that heard the voice. Whether singing or rapping, it was the passion and energy behind the voice that would capture listeners every time.
As time passed and the directions of each party changed Carlos felt it was only right for him and Mr. Knowles to part ways. Shortly after parting ways he was introduced to Houston, Texas rap sensation Lil KeKe and a hit-single dream team was born! Carlos became the artist known as “Phaz†and signed a solo deal with indie label JamDown Entertainment and went on to collaborate with Lil KeKe on various hit songs such as Bounce and Turn, Good Part, Do You Wanna Ride and many more.
While working on his debut album “Mode Unknown†he shared the stage with many national selling artists and went on to artistically participate in moving well over 400,000 units as the “go-to†hook master for Lil KeKe. With all of this industry success right before him, Carlos felt there was still something missing. Bothered by the strong void in his life, Carlos stepped away from the music industry to tend to his spiritual and family life. “I really wanted to make sure I could sit back and know that I was “truly†right with God and physically there for my wife and son and it really feels good to be at that place. To have all of that money and fame and no solid relationship with God and my family was just not worth it.â€
Now with his priorities in place and a mission to make music of purpose, C. Huey is back at what he knows best – good artistry and good music. “Everyone says this, but I truly want to bring something different. I really want to be an effective translator with my work. I want to take everything we experience in God, love and life and translate it all into quality conceptual music. Concepts that promote wholesome energy while evoking thought and infusing the heart.â€
Currently, C. Huey is working on music projects to help raise awareness and money for youth in crisis programs in Houston, Texas. “I feel it’s only right for me to use my gifts to benefit more than just me and my family. We all need to find ways to give back with more than just our time.†His ingenious song “I Got That Music†is currently circulating the industry and web and is receiving stellar feedback. Stay tuned friends, there is so much more to come from the incredible C. Huey!
