In the Beginning...
...there was Access to Music, where Jake and Pete went to college in 2003. They both played in a Latin Soul styled band and would hang out recording bass lines and making tunes in Jake's home studio. A rough track came out of this suitably titled 'A Jam' and the name Anomaly was conceived.
Due to boredom amongst other things, it was all forgotten about, until Pete met Dave, via a 'musicians wanted' notice board. Pete contacted Dave, who was coincidently moving house that week, to literally across the road from Pete. This seemed like fate and so Pete and Dave had many meetings discussing music, world issues and the meaning of life, whilst indulging in fine Indian cuisine. Pete then introduced Dave to Jake. And the three started jamming ideas in Jakes home studio, which by then had doubled in size. It was slow at first, however, they came up with the secret formula for composing tracks. Anomaly remained a three piece for a while with Pete on Bass, Dave on Guitar and Jake on Laptop and Decks.
In April 2006 Dave and Pete started attending a Jazz Workshop. We soon discovered this was an 'un-tapped haven' of brass and horn players. Amongst those there, were Joel and Tim. Both Joel, Tim and ourselves had a similar taste in music, so we decided it was a good idea to mix it up.
The biggest change of all was when we decided to do away with the backing tracks and have Jake make the switch to a live Drum Kit. The latest addition to the group came in February 2007 when Nick (aka MC Days) was sworn in under the Oath of Funk.
Anomaly have recently started gigging, and have received an overwhelmingly positive response. And with more gigs in the pipeline, you have no excuse not to come and see us at one of our live shows.
