Scalping Screen

About Me

Scalping Screen started off in late 2001 as a four-piece band, wanting to create something loud and fast. The band's musical influences came from heavy metal and hardcore punk. The band also has soaked up influences that aren't entirely musical, but make up an important part of what it means to be Scalping Screen. You can hear pure metallic rage in the songs, but there is also an unbridled fury that comes from hardcore. The lyrics deal with loyalty, racism, idiocy and personal demons in life. The themes are mostly nihilistic and miserable, so if you wanna get a positive kick, forget it baby. "Instead of this, you wanna get a good time with us, come to enjoy our show". Scalping Screen is definitely a liveband and its output hits you violently. The band is simple, raw and loud. Droppin' hard and tight shows from day one, no compromise. In 2003 the band entered the studio to record their first diy record “13 Revolting Strains”. As a 13 song record, it ended up as GodsChildMusic's release soon thereafter. Scalping Screen played a couple of shows in Finland and proved themselves that playing gigs with brothers in the hardcore scene was their thing. Soon enough, 13 Rev. got good reviews around the world with the boost of GodsChild promotion. In the end of 2004, the band recorded two songs for a local compilation CD and soon made one demo for the next record. This lead to a couple of days in the studio in early 2005 and as a result “...Blood Out” was released. Two songs from “...Blood Out” were released in GodsChild and Turkey Vulture's compilation CDs. “...Blood Out” was the second self-produced release for GodsChild in 2005. Soon after this, Scalping Screen strenghtened up with a second guitarist. Shortly after this, the five-piece-assault-crew cranked out a lot of shows in clubs and festivals in Finland and had a small tour in Japan.
Between 2006-2007 the band composed twelve raging & brutal new songs and bid up a bunch of shows. The reputation of tight shows spread. In March 2007 it was time to hit the studio again. The band started to record the next full-lenght in March 2007 completing the sessions in one week. At this point family reasons forced the band to step down for a while. One of the news songs was released in 2008 at Burnside Records compilation Goddamn Dirty Vol.3 and two new songs were introduced in Building A Legacy 2 compilation under the Finnish hardcore label Full House Records in early 2009. The third full -lenght will be released by Kneesplitter Rekords in May 2009. No question that it will break your face!
