About Me

Drumming has been my life longer than I care to remember, but what I do know is that at the age of 12 I began studying Arabic percussion at a music conservatoire in Alexandria. During that time I was getting work with local musicians at weddings and celebrations. From the moment I embarked on a career as a freelance drummer, I made a commitment to maintain a varied musical experience. This of course meant developing a structural knowledge of most popular and traditional styles of drumming. In order to consolidate my experience and delve deeper into the weird and wonderful world of rhythm, I studied Popular Music performance at the London College of Music (Drum Tech). After receiving a BA (hons) at the age of 23 I was very inspired to put into practice my newly acquired skills, so I joined as many cover bands as humanly possible.
From there on I started to get recomended for studio, TV and teaching work that spanned across many genres and situations. Some of my most recent engagements have included performing live with Maria Lawson, appearing live on ITV's 'The X-Factor' with finalists Maria Lawson, Live sessions with 4 Sure and performances on BBC1’s Music Live, Night Fever and Party In The Park.
I'm currently occupying the drum seat with rumHoney, one of UK’s most authentic sounding rock band as well as a busy covers/function band
I’m still passionately into this eclectic approach, avoiding the temptation to be pigeonholed or to develop the musical equivalent of tunnel vision.

Influences: Music is vibration, and vibration is the source I tune into without judging or creating barriers. As a result, my influences are varied and hard to list. This is by no means exhaustive, but it's a start.
In no particular order: Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Damien Marley, John Martin, The Rolling Stones, Mandrill, Dave Matthews, Keith Richards, James Brown, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, John Mayer, Paul Simon, Phil Colins, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Thin Lizzy, Nitin Sawhney, Acoustic Alchemy, Dire Straights, Chuck Berry, Paul Weller, Harry Manx, George Benson, Neville Brothers, ZZ Top, Megadeth, Eagles, Mongo Santamaria, Counting Crows, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ray Lamontagne, Taj Mahal... and on and on and on, I' could go on forever with this list.
My drumming influences could be anything from Nayabingi drmmers to Beethoven's fifth symphony... anything that resonates with my soul. Having said that, the following drummers have had a special impact on my musical development.
Steve Jordan, Steve Gad, Vinnie Calaiuta, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl, Buddy Rich, Jojo Mayer Charlie Watts.
