The story so far………
After very positive media attention and feedback from the promotional release of her single “Lucky Guyâ€, 19 year old singer/songwriter Charlotte Cooper is set to release her debut single and album.
The album has an irresistible blend of the biggest names in song writing and musical direction supporting strong material from a new artist, and apart from the original material written by and for Charlotte, there are cover versions endorsed by the “original†artist singing backing vocals - a strong indication of how the quality of material is being viewed in the business!
Produced in London by Steve Levine (Culture Club, Honeyz, The Clash), and in LA by Matt Beckley (Avril Lavigne, Delta Goodrem, Backstreet Boys) Charlotte Cooper is already building an impressive fan-base that includes Robert Lamm (Chicago), Timothy B Schmidt (Eagles), John Walker (Walker Brothers), and Carnie & Wendy Wilson (Wilson Phillips).
It is no wonder the material is attracting industry attention, when the likes of David Marks (co-founding member of The Beach Boys), Gerry Beckley (America), Kiki Dee, and Jeffrey Foskett (Eric Clapton, Brian Wilson’s MD), and Christopher Rainbow not only appear on the album, but are keen to ensure this talent has the help and support she needs in the future.
Charlotte Cooper was discovered by Brian Wilson’s Musical Director, Jeffrey Foskett, when he first heard her voice on-stage during a “guest†appearance at a Beach Boys convention - she made a real impression! In front of a mass of Beach Boy fans, from the first note both the fans and star guests were hooked.
So much so that Jeffrey Foskett took her under his wing when he returned to London later that year to perform with Brian Wilson, and introduced her to producer Steve Levine. They have directed her musical talent to create the most “angelic and distinctive sound heard since the days of the Carpenters†(Irish Post).
Charlotte has been singing and dancing from the age of 3, and attended the Gable Hall School, where Dougie Poynter (McFly), George Maguire (Billy Elliott), also attended, and while awaiting the launch of her debut album, is attending Winchester University studying for a Degree in Performing Arts – what else!
Balancing studies with media interest has brought Charlotte to the attention of UK’s largest careers adviser - “B-Liveâ€, who recognised her potential as an inspirational figure in their campaign to communicate with their 60,000 on-line students, and have incorporated her as their spokesperson/ambassador.
Charlotte loves nothing better then to perform live, and has appeared in front of a growing fan-base from Soho Theatre (London) to The Anaheim Theatre (California).
From Radio London to BBC 7’s “Big Toe†show, Charlotte has been an instant hit with listeners and presenter’s, Richard Allinson (Radio 2) has already been quoted on air as saying “Charlotte has a huge career in front of herâ€, and Mike Read (Radio London) was one of the first to play “Lucky Guyâ€, is sure of her future success as the track soon became one of the most requested from “Big L†listeners.
