The History Of D Gully:

Duane Mclean started MCing around 2000 after being inspired by not only the olders he grew up with, but also the MCs he used to listen to on pirate radio daily. People in his ends began calling him "Dibbz" at the time (a play on the name "Duane Dibley" - a character from TV Show - Red Dwarf). He didn't initially like it, but like most nicknames, they end up sticking. Duane watched the 21 Seconds video for the first time in 2001, and from that day on knew he was going to do everything he could to make it as a musician.

His first step came when he joined "Feedback Crew" (later known as "Feedback") which was a crew formed by some of his old class mates. After a couple years of recording bedroom sets, enhancing the roster and developing our craft, we were given a show on South London's leading pirate station at the time "ON TOP 95.5FM". It was a big step to go from nowhere to now being on radio alongside some of the biggest names in Grime at the time.

It was around this time that "Dibbz" officially changed his name to "D Gully". The "D" obviously standing for his birth name, and "Gully" meaning 'Generating Unity Leading Lost Youth'. D Gully had a number of clashes on ON TOP 95.5FM, including a memorable one with Desperado.

In 2005, Feedback released their first promo mixtape, "Give Us Your Feedback". Around this time, they also appeared on a few DVDs including Southern Hospitality. Due to difference in ambition, and some people lacking the work ethic, in late 2006, Feedback split up.

D Gully decided to form a new collective, with an attitude more suited to the direction he planned to take with his music. He and Chase Blackbeard formed Rooftop Recordings and recruited former Feedback members Marshall McFly and Snapz, as well as young newcomers, Da 90s Babys - Terra Blackbeard and Easy Baby. Slaya, undoubtedly one of South London's biggest hidden talents has recently joined the Rooftop Recordings roster

Things are looking very positive for Rooftop Recordings, D Gully released his official mixtape in December 2007 and is now working on a series of promotional mixtapes. Chase Blackbeard and Marshall McFly also have FREE mixtapes out now. Slaya and Snapz are both respectively in the lab each cooking up something special, and Da 90's Baby's are reviewing the situation before they part and take over.
