I want freedom for the full expression of my personality. [Mahatma Gandhi]

About Me

I am half-Hawaiian, half-French. I'm a passionate, driven, sharp, kind person who enjoys people and understands that the ultimate measure of one's life is the level of one's contribution.
I'm a critic of good movies (which precludes those featuring helicopters or pro-wrestlers), enjoy live theater (ala Ashland Shakespeare Festival ), literature, 80's-rock, dancing, travel (Bali, Hawaii, Europe, India, the USA!), Kennedy history and trivia.
A bit of a gourmet, I can cook a thick, mean gumbo to a tender rack of lamb. I have a green thumb and do a little gardening and amateur landscape design. Here's the Japanese garden I built for myself in Portland:
Great with kids, but have none of my own--yet! I once had a ferret (see photo in album), but sadly, she ran away. I moved back to California for many reasons, but mostly because I love my family and it was time to "come home." So, I relocated to Orange County area from Portland, Oregon last year.
The son of a Hawaiian Kahuna and step-son of a Cherokee Shaman, I can't get away with much for very long. So I'm constantly in pursuit of personal growth and enlightenment. I'm committed to paying homage to creators of the earth and to learning all I can from Landmark Education and the study of "being" [which is rather tough, by the way!].
Neil Diamond
I'm a huge Neil Diamond fan--the guy wrote virtually everything! My commitment to myself this year is to sing "Play Me" to a really big karaoke audience.
Arrested Development
I admire the quick, pithy, dry, sophisticated humor of the television show ( Arrested Development ). I loved that show like a friend. A really hot, female friend who would get drunk and call in the middle of the night and say things like, “Why don’t we just make out, there’s nothing better to do.” Then FOX cancelled it, and I lost a piece of myself. I miss that show!
Tobias Funke: "No, no, it's pronounced a-nal-ra-pist."
Buster: "It wasn't really the pronunciation that bothered me."
Arrested Development Quotes
Buster: Mom volunteered me for the Army. Just because the fat man dared her to.
Lucille: Look what they've done, Michael. Look what the homosexuals have done to me.
Lucille Bluth: [about Lupe, the Mexican maid] She's awful. Can barely wash a dish
Michael Bluth: [chiding her] Mother...
Lucille Bluth: Oh, please. They didn't sneak into this country to be your friends.
George Sr.: Gentlemen, we do not wave our genitals at one another to make a point!
Fireman: Somebody wanted this place to go.
Michael: Yeah? What do you mean, arson?
Fireman: Oh, definitely the work of a flamer.
Buster: [Buster discovers that Lucille and Oscar are making love in his hand chair] Make love in your *own* hand, Mother.
Michael: My mom is very stressed out, and she needs something I can't give her, um... maybe a little "afternoon delight".
Narrator: Oscar thought that Michael was referring to a particular brand of cannabis named Afternoon Deelite, a strain famous for slowing behavior.
Oscar: Well sure, my question is, which way do I try to get it in her?
Michael: I don't need any details.
Oscar: Maybe I'll put it in her brownie
Michael: Hey.
Michael: Call me what you want...
Lindsay: An impotent man-boy?
Narrator: Tobias was a never nude, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Buster: [about Lucille] It's like she gets off on being witholding.
Michael: Whoa. Buster.
Gob: Look who's got something to say.
Buster: [impersonating Lucille] I'm Mom and I want to shoot down everything you say so I feel good about myself. [everyone laughs]
Gob: Look who's ragging on the old lady.
Buster: Cause I'm an uptight [long bleep]
Buster: Buster [Long bleep]
Buster: ... you old horny slut.
Michael: [pause] Well, no one's going to top that.
Lindsay Funke: I'm tired of trying to find happiness through lies and self-medicating. If you need me, I'll be at the bar.
Night Life
I like techno and FINALLY have some friends who know where to go to hear good music...in Hollywood.
