Stumptown Jug Thumpers

About Me

The Stumptown Jug Thumpers deliver a package of fun, toe-tapping music centered around the great old-time jug band music of the 1920's, 30's, 60's and now in the new millenium. We play many songs from those great eras, and mix in other old (and not so old) hokum. We also enjoy continuing the fine jug band street tradition of playing to entice their audience, from unique, home-made instruments to humourous lyrics to songs that were especially popular. As a modern jug band, we spice up our old-time with newer songs from the past 30 years, from the Bee Gees to Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and the Outkast, as well as our own tunes. But our real joy is to see people dancing and having a good time as we keep some of the great music of artists like the Memphis Jug Band, Cannon's Jug Stompers, Jim Kweskin & the Jug Band, the Memphis Sheiks, King David's Jug Band, Jed Davenport, Hattie Hart and many others alive. We started in March 2005, as the fulfillment of Rob's New Years Eve Resolution and long-time dream. Rob recruited some talented friends, and the Thumpers were born. We are currently in our third edition, having recently switched several members. We play good-time fun music and want you to have a ball listening (and dancing).
