Hailing from a small town outside Boston, Brendan Murphy is the latest up and coming song-writer blowing audiences away with his thought-provoking lyrics and infectious original music. A cross between Bob Dylan and Dan Bern, with the soul of Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Cash, Brendan joins other modern troubadours, like Elvis Perkins, Bright Eyes and M. Ward, in redefining singer song-writer traditions. With his debut album, Jumped the Shark, Brendan delivers a mesmerizing performance: capturing the spirit of "busting out of the metropolis" and "changing up his course" to live off the grid in Alaska; invoking the passions aroused by the birth of his baby daughter while the country is fighting a misguided war; encapsulating the timeless search "for something that feels like the truth;" and lamenting to "all my friends that I haven't seen in a while, I sure would like to talk to you now." In fact, listening to Brendan is like having a beer and a passionate conversation with an old friend. Filled with wit, personality and energy, Jumped the Shark makes it clear why audiences connect so deeply with Brendan as a song-writer and a performer. Brendan has shared the stage with numerous national touring acts including The Slip, The Samples, The Wood Brothers, and Kathleen Edwards. He has played in a variety of legendary venues, and is one of those rare artists that can play anywhere from bars to halls and with anybody. We strongly recommend giving Brendan's debut album a listen soon. As he observes in his song -- "why would you wait around for tomorrow when you have today"? ..
