I am here for Friends

About Me

*********************************************** I'm in grad school for creative writing and am working on my first book of poetry, which will most likely only be read by other poets, and will collect dust on a few family members' bookshelves; I can make most people laugh with my really bad (and often inappropriate) jokes; I hate living in Las Vegas, but have found that when I'm traveling it comes in handy to tell people I live here because it can usually get me a free drink (if I can get through the 50 questions about CSI and casinos); I don't keep up with my Myspace page and never really check it unless I have a new comment or friend request; I overuse semicolons.

My Interests

my husband Peej, sex, watching movies, reading, writing, music, hiking, cooking, foreign languages, travel, wine, board games, dancing, beer. Yep. I am an exciting gal.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who laughs at my really bad jokes. (Or anyone else who cracks really bad jokes.)

Music:

cat power, belle and sebastian, cake, counting crows, REM, guster, the shins, portisehead, mazzy star, destroyer, bjork, josh joplin, cure, depeche mode, the smiths, scissors sisters, wilco, tegan and sara, metric, to name a few from a list of way too many.

Movies:

Usual Suspects, Casablanca, Roman Holiday, Empire Records, Reality Bites, Tarantino films, Christopher Guest films, Amelie, Zoolander, The Big Lebowski, Donnie Darko, Secretary, Tron, Office Space.

Television:

Family Guy, Futurama, Sex and the City (I'm a little embarassed to admit that!). I don't have a TV that gets any reception and I don't have cable, so I tend to watch shows that I can rent on DVD, which means about a year after my friends talk about a show I get to find out what all the hype was about.

Books:

tons of modern poetry: Jack Gilbert, Donald Hall, Tony Hoagland, Marvin Bell, Kim Addonizio. Fiction would be everything from Dante to Camus to Stephen King. Nonfiction, creative nonfiction, history. Just give me a book already!
