DJ dLux has been a DJ for only 3 short years but it was long overdue before that. Back in high school, he was the go-to guy if you wanted a mix CD with all the newest tracks before anybody else had them. After realizing his calling, he got a loan, purchased his own equipment and locked himself in his bedroom practicing. He then took it upon himself and developed a grass roots campaign unlike any other DJ in Orlando and rather than try to storm the clubs and get a job, he created one of the strongest mixtapes followings in Orlando and nationwide right out of his own bedroom. Taking it upon himself to record, create and distribute the mixtapes digitally, saved him money and at the same time gained him a following that most DJs would have to pay thousands for. Since his first mixtape release in 2007, he has amassed over 100,000 downloads and a huge internet following across most if not all the major mixtape sites such as Mixfiend.com, Datpiff.com and MixtapeTorrent.com. Based on the success of his mixtapes, he would have independent outlets asking permission to press up his mixtapes for sale. After taking over the mixtape market, he decided to take his newfound success and pitch clubs on his unique Hip-Hop sound and was brought onto the already successful Saturday/Thursday lineup at Club Firestone. He took what he did on the mixtapes and brought that energy into one of the most action packed live sets the Orlando nightlife scene has experienced with his ability to have a strong microphone presence and effortlessly keep the crowd interested at the same time with his unique track selection and live blends that goes against the grain of the usual music you would hear in the clubs. Today, DJ dLux is still performing live and actively keeping his internet presence going with exclusive remixes and mixtapes. His latest mixtape offering, the genre defying ‘dLectro’ was his first mixtape to bring both his signature Hip-Hop sound and his new found love of Electro music together on one epic mix that is sure to keep heads turning and fists pumping in 2009.
