Who are Goliath & Jay Shah-B ?
It all started when two audiovisual technicians working in Paris decided to go on a musical quest. By creating a multi-influenced Hip Hop based project, they knew that the Rap generation in the late 90's became tinged with Electro, Trip Hop & Abstract.
Jay Shah-B, Born in St Lô Normandy in 1978 is a jack-of-all-trades musician that plays keys, guitars, drums. He came to music by the Bass, playing in different groups (Metal, Noisy, Grunge & Rock) before creating a Hardcore-Punk band called Dehanza with which he has been touring for the last ten years.
His interest for Hip Hop and Breakbeat musics started to grow as he produced a lot of tunes for French rappers like Rosinante IRS. He then produced and mixed some tracks for «Collection 2003 & 2005» (Ra and Bo Records) and went on making Abstract music. Aside his music productions, Jay Shah-B directed some music videos and two short thriller movies that will be soon presented on some Festivals.
Goliath, born in 1967 in Paris's suburbs has been collecting heavy metal vinyls until the famous '86 hit Walk this way by Areosmith & RUN DMC definitively turned him to Rap music. Coming to Paris in 1981, he started doing Graffiti and Beatbox from 1983 as he was living the Hip Hop culture by rollerskating among the turmoil of the Trocadero where all Hip Hop heads used to hang out. Later on he created the BlueSoundJam concept and parties in 1996 and was a journalist for french Hip Hop magazine Radikal in 1999.
During homemade freestyle sessions he met mc LeCsen, from today's 75018 Beatstreet (Warm distrib). He bought his first MPC and started making beats to form Dnot Props and finally create an autoproduced 6-tracks EP that never came out. But the productions continued to pile up.
Goliath came to Jay Shah-B in June 2005 and they decided to work together and gather their own shit : ABSCRATCHIPHOP was born !
It's a combo of HIP HOP, ABSTRACT and TRIPHOP instrumentals, BREAKBEATS with scratches provided by tha amazing Twoda (BeatstreetCD, Instrumentals for MC's vol.1 to 10) from Huperkut Crew, FRENCH RAP featuring LeCsen and Aucune Chance from 75018 Beatstreet, John Banzaï and Dj Wamba (Vijzion'R mixtape, Echoes compilation by Les NUBIANS), Souleymane Diamanka (author for Les NUBIANS, Echoes compilation) for a Urban Griot like song, P38 from Sous-Scéllés (featurings with Rocca or Less du Neuf) and a Peplum like song with 22 artists (multilingual rappers & DJs) named "Curriculum Vitae Hip Hop". Add a BOOTLEG from Talib Kweli's "Some kind of wonderfull" and some nice SKITS and you'll have the essence of what the 22 tracks of ABSCRATCHIPHOP are all about.
They are preparing a Live act to go on Tour soon in order to promote their very first album called ABSCRATCHIPHOP out this summer 2006.

Jay Shah-B, né en 1978 à St Lô en Normandie est un musicien touche-à -tout (clavier, guitare, batterie) qui est venu à la musique par la basse en 1993 en jouant dans divers groupes (Métal, Noisy, Grunge ou Rock). Il chante ensuite dans un groupe Trash Métal et créé Dehanza, groupe Punk Hardcore, avec lequel il a tourné ces dix dernières années. Son interrêt pour le Hip Hop et le Breakbeat se développe à partir de 1999 en produisant pour les rappeurs de Rosinante IRS. Il créé ensuite un titre et en mixe plusieurs sur les compil "collection 2003 & 2005" (Ra n' Bo Records) et continue ses productions Abstract, Hip Hop et Electro.
Il réalise aussi des vidéos, depuis son plus jeune âge, pour aboutir à des clips et à deux court-métrages que l'on pourra voir dans divers Festivals. br Goliath, né en 1967 en banlieue parisienne était un fan de Heavy Métal jusqu'à ce que le tube d'Aerosmith et de RUN DMC "Walk this way" le rende accroc au Rap. Arrivé à Paris en 1981, il se mèle à l'effervescence Hip Hop du Trocadéro à partir de 1983 en y pratiquant le Roller. Il se met au Graffiti et au Beatbox et devient collectionneur de vinyls.
En 1996, il créé le concept BlueSoundJam et les soirées du même nom et fut journaliste au magazine Radikal en 1999. Lors de sessions freestyle privées il rencontre LeCsen, devenu rappeur de 75018 Beatstreet (Warm Distrib). Il achète alors une MPC pour créer leurs productions de Dnot Props puis ils réalisent un EP 6 titres autoproduit qu'ils ne réussissent pas à sortir. Mais les productions s'amoncèlent.
En juin 2005, Goliath vient à Jay Shah-B et ils décident de travailler ensemble en rassemblant leurs morceaux et leurs connections: ABSCRATCHIPHOP est né !
Il s'agit d'une combinaison d'instrumentaux HIP HOP, ABSTRACT et TRIPHOP, de BREAKBEATS agrémenté des scratches de l'étonnant Twoda d' Huperkut Crew ( BeatstreetCD, Instrumentals for MC's vol.1 à 10), du RAP FRANCAIS featuring LeCsen et Aucune Chance de 75018 Beatstreet, John Banzaï et Dj Wamba (mixtape Vijzion'R , compilation Echoes par Les Nubians), Souleymane Diamanka (auteur pour Les Nubians, compilation Echoes) pour un track de griot urbain, P38 de Sous-Scéllés (featurings avec Rocca ou Less du Neuf) et "Curriculum Vitae Hip Hop" un morceau Peplum avec 22 artistes (rappeurs multilinguistes & DJs). Ajouttez à celà un BOOTLEG de "Some kind of wonderfull" de Talib Kweli et quelques sympathiqes INTERLUDES et vous obtenez l'essence d'ABSCRATCHIPHOP.
Ils préparent actuellement un Live pour pouvoir promouvoir leur album ABSCRATCHIPHOP qui sort en été 2006...
