World Is Static

About Me

I'm Psy, I play guitar in 'World Is Static'. We're a female fronted metal band. Things seem to be picking up for us lately. Got some cracking new songs that we're itching to record. Just need some decent paying gigs so we can raise the cash. We have a Myspace page at myspace.com/worldis .

I'd like to get in to doing music for films & computer games. I think that'd be great.

Before WiS I've been in a couple of other bands...

Skin Trench (1996-2001) My first band, quite metal. This was when I discovered the joys oftuning my guitar down to 'B' & that's where it's stayed ever since (excluding a the odd stint in drop 'A'). We were verypopular in the local scene at the time, this might have something to do with us being one of only a couple of metal bands inDurham. Kerrang once described us as the next Sepultura... Shame it never worked out, but I still get the ocasional shoutof 'SKIN TRENCH!!' at me from some one I don't know when I'm out & about. Merrick 1862 (2001-2004) During 2001 the various members of Skin Trench started going thierseparate ways, as did I. I wanted to try something a little different. Merrick wasn't as heavy as the Trench, but itwasn't meant to be. I was trying to make the make focus this time round on the songs & not just a bunch of cool riffs. Thename was taken from the elephant man, Joseph Merrick & the year of his birth 1862. Recording I do the odd bit of recording for other artists here and there. I've done stuff for... Heather Frances , For The Others , Diablo 66 (I recorded the 'Pirates Of The Underground' EP for them in the barn where they practise) & helped mates out with various college & university recordings.

Musical Influences Currently my music is influenced by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Tool, APerfect Cirlce, Jimmy Eat World & Jonah Matranga. This isn't all that I listen to, merly the bands I feel have the biggest influence at the moment. I also like (deepbreath) NOFX, Reel Big Fish, Foo Fighters, Funeral For A Friend, Type O Negative, Skinny Puppy, Sisters Of Mercy, Rammstein,Anthrax, Extreme, Manic Street Preachers, Finch, Coheed & Cambria, Terrorvision, Sepultura, Machine Head, Fear Factory, TheWildhearts... & many, many more.
