Add to My Profile | More Videos Band Bio circa 1998: Straight from behind the Orange Curtain comes the band that has become synonymous with words such as "soul" "explosive" and "dynamic." A powerful six piece which includes the horn section of Jack Benson (Saxophone) and Ken "Effrem" Shaw (trumpet). Together now for five years, Barrelhouse has become one of those rare groups that has such depth, thier music reaches deep inside the audience, grips thier soul and shakes it with astounding urgency. Out of the ashes of the defunct southern rock outfit Crawdaddy, the current line up of Barrelhouse was formed in 1994 by bassist Leonard Jones and vocalist/guitarist Harlis Sweetwater. Soon after, the two snatched guitarist Calhoun B. Tibbs from the hands of D.I. and the musical confines of Orange County's infamous punk rock scene. He has since incorporated his piercing raw edge sound into thier deeply soulful rock and roll. The band moved long time friend and percussionist Cleotis Jackson behind the drum kit after a run of others failed to play and live up to the expectations and demands Barrelhouse put forth. The group solidified it's roots with three individual releases on Steady Rollin' Records; "Blues on Tenth and Central" "Soul Pimps and Blues Pushers" and "Peach." These three releases along with many live performances have garnered enthusiastic and rave reviews from music critics and fans alike. Barrelhouse has injected a vast spectrum of influences to shape thier sound, from the early century blues of Muddy Waters to 70's rock and punk. However, it's the gritty Stax/Volt soul music of Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett that remains the core of thier sound. To date, Barrelhouse has opened shows for veteran performers such as Etta James, John Mayall, Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slash, as well as headlining sold out festivals and venues such as Orange County Blues Festival, House of Blues, Whiskey-A-Go Go and Billboard Live. ..This profile was edited with Thomas' myspace editor™ V2.5Barrelhouse Reunion 2006 - She's Gone
