Escaping from the saturated southern California hardcore scene is what Nevea Tears has strived to do since their beginnings. With a group harnessing such diverse talent and musical backgrounds, it is no wonder they have proven to be a step ahead of the pack. Through an array of earth shattering tracks off their debut album Do I Have to Tell You Why I Love You? on Eulogy records, they will lead you along a dynamic path into the creative minds of this five piece arrangement. They are led by abrasive vocalist John Morello, whose style can be frantic and spastic. Vocalist and guitarist Greg Gillis provides soaring vocals over atmospheric guitar leads. Jeff Metajin throws down the electronic beats as well as heavy guitar and ambient keyboards and synths. Stephen keeps the rhythm tight and the show lively behind the drums. Dom grooves at the bass of all this.
Together on stage they blossom into a spectacle of talent and intensity. The confessions in their lyrics prove to be real with the raw emotion that is felt not only through ranging vocals and instrumentation, but also through their undeniable stage presence. Touring across the U.S. early in their career, Nevea Tears has not had an easy ride. They have established themselves as a hard working, ever-maturing band. And Change is always in the mix. Through life experience, inspiration, and overall growth as human beings, their collaborations are always innovative and real. Often juxtapose bands such as Refused, Glassjaw, Zao, or Underoath, they are not bound by any comparison. They cannot be thrown into one genre due to their unpredictability. Heavy breakdowns can lead into trance style beats. Catchy choruses can melt into spastic rock. Amidst these changes everything remains cohesive and under control.
