About Me

Ya gotta meet me to love me. Or hate me, for that matter. I am not consistent in my views, usually, however, I am consistent in my values (please. Not with a Capital "V" as politicans like to bandy about). I am a rather compassionate, accepting and non-judgemental person, however, that does not mean that I can be trod upon, disagree with anothers point of view or ways of living life, or not have very strong opinions about things. Not much surprises me, I suppose, and not too many things repel me.I'm not one for close-mindedness, however, nor sentences that begin with "You need to..." or "You should..." or "You made me feel like...." I am always willing and able to accept the consequences for my actions, for my thoughts, and for my feelings. I expect the same in others. Not really. Just those that I choose to relate to.I hold myself to high social standards, and I appreciate the same. "Thank you" and "please" mean a great deal. Expressing my gratitude for kindness is important to me. I believe strongly in civility, and feel that humanity can be terribly uncivil. Is terribly uncivil. But I suppose that the attempt to cling to the veneer of civility that is part and parcel of our tripartite brains is at least something, isn't it?I believe that the arts contribute to that civilizing force. That feeding the soul through the arts (as you choose to define them/it for yourself) is as important as feeding the body. I always felt that way but then I did not for years. I did not always believe that. Coming to that conclusion was transformative.I believe in the power of language, and that how you choose your words shapes your attitude and your interaction with others (please see above "You should..." "You ought to," etc.).Meeting good people is always good. And that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!Regards, Tim

My Blog

Fun with institutionalized racism!

My very first blog ever, and I promise to be nothing but completely inconsistent. Every now and again I get a bee in my bonnet. As I reread this article by scholar and activist Ward Churchill my...
