Genghis Brothers

About Me

The Genghis Brothers were formed in 2002 by three friends whose musical collaborations go back to school days.
With their roots in the new acoustic movement, the band have played the London club circuit extensively, with regular spots at the famous Kashmir Klub, The River Bar, The Sound Bar, Soho's Kabaret Club, Bracknell Arts Centre, Windsor Arts Centre and Watfords Old Pump House.
In 2004 they released their first EP, supported tour dates for Philadelphias MPE band and Keith James and headlined at the Windsor Art Centre Songwriting Weekend.
In 2005 the emphasis shifted towards a more dynamic plugged-in format and numerous festival appearances, including the main stage at the Stroud Fringe.
2006 saw the release of a second EP and 16 festival dates throughout the UK, adding to their strong reputation and fan base.
The Genghis Brothers highly distinctive music reflects many influences - the electric set is raunchy and dynamic, fusing elements of rock, soul, funk and jazz to create a sound that's rich and complex yet personal and accessible. The acoustic set is intimate and contemporary, using steel and nylon strung acoustic guitars, bass and percussion to create compelling melodies, rhythms and textures.
