my LIFE in POETRY

About Me

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Christian had many hobbies... but didn't discover his talent until a travesty had hit him in the summer of 1996 when he had his heart broken by someone he loved. Unable to piece his mind back together after what had transpired, he picked up a pen to vent. It was amazing how the expression of words came natural to him, and so he continued to write. In the spring of 1997, his first book was written "Drawing Conclusions" a story of his heartbreak and outlook on the world through his eyes... At first it was just something to do, asking some peers what they thought about his writing. Much to his surprise of how it was accepted, he continued to write. He would later put down his pen and trade it in for a M16 as he joined the U.S. Army in the summer of 1997. In 1999 he was discharged and concentrated on family life and his daughter became his focus. In 2002 he ran across some local rap talents in Texas and the spark had ignited his love for writing again. And so he continued to write, but now started to record what he had written on cassette in the form of underground rap music. To others it seemed as though he was doing more "talking" then rapping, and then it hit him to do poetry and so he continued to write. Later in the year he would move to Oklahoma City... In the spring of 2003 he wrote his first poem. In the summer of the same year, Christian gave his life to the Lord and started writing poems to honor and praise Jesus. He also recorded his first Christian song "180 Degrees". Performing his poetry mainly in front of the church congregation and impressed by his ability to write and flow, the local group Supertropolis asked Christian to join their ministry. He accepted and learned to craft his ability to rap in a more rhythmic form and was featured with the group on several tracks like "Stomp On'em", "Not My Will", "Supertrop", and "Tropadance 2". He would leave the group in January of 2005, but he continued to write... From then he would concentrate on his craft of writing poetry; the gift he believes God has given to him all along. He won an award for his poem "She Speaks", a poem about how his daughter came into his life. In the fall of 2005 Christian released his debut album "Sharing A Piece Of Life". He then met Sean C. Johnson and recorded the track "Keep On Blessing Me". During this time Christian had met Greg "Heady" Coleman and was introduced to the We Tell Stories Poetry Nights and began performing poetry in front of bigger crowds which inspired new poetry pieces, and so he continued to write... Throughout the year of 2006, Christian had made several guest appearances on the 91FM radio station where some of his poetry was aired. Christian continued writing and performing poetry and started writing out pieces for his second album "The Blessed Poet" in which he recorded in March of 2007. The album is set for a summer release..."I pray all who listen to this mixtape poetry album is blessed and receives it to be a blessing. Each track contains my feelings, my emotion, my passion, my love and my desire to bless you all with the gift that God has given to me. Keep me in your prayers! Peace be with you all in Christ Jesus..."
