When people show you who they are, believe them

About Me

whateverlife.comI'm a focused, young professional striving to make moves for myself and my family. I'm all about the empowerment of my people and strengthening my community. I use Myspace strictly to reconnect or stay connected with friends and networking; I'm NOT here for dating.

On another note, this is one of my favorite quotes so I felt the need to stick somewhere on this page-lol: "It is a peculiar sensation, this double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one's self through the eyes of others, of measuring one's soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused contempt and pity..." You could live your entire life trying to impress others and still never fully satisfy anyone (including yourself).

My Interests

Dancing is my passion (kind of wished I actually pursued it professionally). I also love to read- mainly books about Black history, watch movies, and chill at home alone or with friends.

I'd like to meet:

Doug E. Fresh, LL Cool J, Angela Davis, Assata Shakur, Bob Marley (yes I am fully aware he's not alive), Oprah Winfrey. Other than my celebrity list, I would love to meet focused individuals that are about making things happen as opposed to letting things happen and definitely young professionals that are about their business as am I.

Music:

I love Old School Hip Hop (Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick fan), Reggae, Dancehall, R&B (new and old school- Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Lenny Williams), Hip Hop, Gospel, Neo-Soul (Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Floetry, and list goes on...), Lauryn Hill, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli (as you can see I love music that says something)

Movies:

The Color Purple, Harlem Nights, Goodfellas, Scarface, Juice, Crash, Krush Groove, Brown Sugar, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Last Dragon

Television:

Girlfriends, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: SVU, Everybody Hates Chris, Rescue Me, and a few documentaries.

Books:

Assata by Assata Shakur, The Spook Who Sat By the Door, and any book about The Movement, Black Panthers, and about "our" past.

Heroes:

Jesus Christ for saving my soul. Guillermo Nazario for fearlessly sacrificing himself to save a child.R.I.P GUILLERMO (GUELO) 2/28/83- 2/14/06
