My wife and I retired to North Carolina over 10 years ago after spending a rewarding 28 years teaching in New Jersey. Like many new retirees, I had some concerns about taking an early retirement. It turns out that I needn't have been concerned at all...We got it all right! With our homes, cars, and credit cards all completely paid off, and a pension that includes cost of living allowances and health care, we had no financial problems. With a variety of interests (music, tennis, golf, ballroom dancing, travel, community service and more)we have more to do than we have time for. We have traveled all over Europe, Asia and the US during the past decade and look forward to an around the world trip in the near future. My wife is a concert pianist and I have song with major choruses around the country and this experience has led us to perform during many of our travels. We hope to meet folks with similar interests or anyone interested in how to "do it right" in retirement. We have made friends with folks from Bali to Sweden and look forward to making many more.
