AUDIO DAKOOS is a band formed in the West Midlands in the wake of all the detritus promoted as “British Culture†music. Since the birth of Audio Dakoos in 2005 they have gone on to be voted “BEST UNSIGNED ACT OF 2006/2007†as voted by SONY GOLD AWARD winners for “BEST SPECIALIST MUSIC PROGRAMME†“FRICTIONâ€.
2006 witnessed the first release from Audio Dakoos, “I am Jack’s Smerking Jaanwur†which had been making waves on Radio One on Zane Lowe and Bobby & Nihal Presents. An Asian influenced electronica / breakbeat track with strong old-school over tones, it has been a big hit on the club circuit Nationally and Internationally being heard in clubs such as Fabric, Ministry Of Sound and a whole raft of popular Underground clubs across the Globe.
After came the second release “Amitabh’s Organic Overdrive†causing riots all over radio stations and myspace causing the page to crash within the first airplay. Audio Dakoos then stepped upto the challenge and bounced chests with many high profile artist to pursue collaborations and remixes with the likes of Rock ID, D-Code, Riz MC, MDK Cartel and Sonny Jim to name a few. One collaboration was a task set by Electro East on BBC Asian Network to remix Punjabi MC – Snakcharmer which birthed the third release which resulted to sound better then the original track itself voted by public demand.
Through-out 2006/2007 Audio Dakoos continued to slap a library of bootlegs of high velocity production into the screaming faces of radio listeners and clubbers that frequently complain on message boards questioning the fact “Why are Audio Dakoos still unsigned???â€
After three big releases and various highlighted events such as Glastonbury 2005, Birmingham Arts Festival, Friction Live Sessions – BBC Asian Network, Mirage Film Festival, Residents at Selfridges Birmingham, Audio Dakoos have taken the weight upon their own shoulders to sweep the rug from under the alternative music scene and create a whole new soundscape of music genres like Punk Step, Basscore, Jungle Step, Hybrid Drum & Breaks and Rocktronica while still being unsigned. It will only be a matter of time before the frustrated public have enough of complaining on message boards and start taking action against record labels for not signing the only bridge between alternative genres.
“We started from nothing and we will grow into something huge, if we get signed it’s a bonus, we just want to bend the rules AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! And create a musical riot so genre may no longer exist.â€
Tablahead, 2007
“What is a musical genre? If one has no precedent of a “genre†of music, they don’t know how to “classify†it, or pigeon hole it by putting it into a box. We just see it as music - the ultimate languageâ€
Gholee Wallah, 2007
“Our feet are in both worlds, we can shape music or design in any way we want to, but we will continue to do it our way which makes us what we are, ‘HIJACKERS OF MUSIC’!â€
Punkjabi, 2007
"Sometimes you have to ask yourself, 'Is this an unfortunate accident... or a miracle from god?' My brain is my perfect defect..."
