About Me

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ This just wasn't another hectic day at the office for Mr. Hooks. I could tell by the way he walked into the office and promptly asked me to call his lawyer that there was something unusual going on. As I placed the call to Glen Harris, Mr. Hooks' lawyer, I overheard what had Mr. Hooks in such an uproar. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~"I can't believe they are trying to back out of this contract! The ink isn't even dry yet! Who has the balls to try to back out of a 10 million dollar contract?!" The tone of his voice rattled me and I swear the earth moved from underneath my feet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~"I'm leaving Mr. Harris a voicemail on his cell and then I'm calling him at his home Mr. Hooks." His sigh of relief knowing that I would be making sure I made the appropriate calls seemed to make his life a bit easier. At times like these, I needed to make sure Mr. Hooks knew I was on top of business. Especially in this case because it seemed as if the contract for the new 50 story condominium development was in jeopardy. Mr. Hooks worked so hard closing this deal and I had to make sure I had each base covered to stop it. That was what I was hired for. I'm not just his secretary, but I'm his first line of defense when someone tries to throw a curve ball his way. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~I gently knocked on the opening of the door and updated Mr. Hooks on getting in contact with his lawyer. His eyes raised up at me as I handed him a cold bottle of VOSS and the New York Times. As I turned to leave his large corner office, he stopped me in my tracks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~"You know, Cynthia, I've worked so very hard to be the best, but there is always something, someone, some backstabbing bastard waiting to cut me down." I turned towards Mr. Hooks to see him gazing out of his floor to ceiling windows overlooking the busy streets of New York. "There's nothing more frustrating than to have someone try to stand in your way!" I wasn't sure if I should have responded, but when he looked in my direction, his eyes gave me the impression that he needed someone to help sort him through his stresses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~"Well, Mr. Hooks, I was once told by someone very special to me that nothing in the world comes easy. And as hard as you've worked to get where you are today, you've got to work even harder to remain at the top. There will always be someone ready and willing to take your place." I felt a jolt in my body when Mr. Hooks asked me to sit down. I don't think there's ever been a time where I've been in his office long enough to sit for even the briefest moment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~As I approached the imported Italian leather chair across from Mr. Hooks' mahogany desk, his personal phone line rang. He took the call. It was his lawyer. I made sure I stayed and took note of where and what time they were meeting for lunch to discuss the contract issue. I quickly left Mr. Hooks' office updated his calendar, made reservations at Masa for an early lunch at 11:45 am and rushed back into his office hoping I hadn't forgotten anything. When he ended his call and before he could speak a word to me I updated him on his schedule, confirmed that his personal car would pick him up at the office in 10 minutes and Mr. Harris was heading to the restaurant as we spoke. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ "What would I do without you Cyn? You're heaven sent!" I couldn't help but blush as I passed along his new Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillion 30° wristwatch that arrived earlier that morning. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ "You might have to return this watch if I don't straighten out this contract issue." We both laughed as he packed his Alfred Dunhill briefcase for his meeting with Mr. Harris. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~He headed out of the office and headed towards his meeting. I sat at my desk wondering why a man like that is single. He was powerful, very successful, extremely handsome and still managed to put a smile on his face even at a time of crisis such as this. He was a phenomenal man and though I wasn't a part of his personal life, being a part of his professional life was just as gratifying. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~To be continued, but in reality...Just a little something to get you to envision what you will become one day :) Hoped you liked it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SaraKitt~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ ............................................................ ............................................................ .........................
