About Me

The early yearsSinging at family reunions, banquets and "kiddie-disco's" from ages 4-7 yrs, with a strong influence in jazz, and r&b. Listening and singing Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and contemporary artist Donnie Hathaway, Minnie Ripperton, Natalie Cole, and so on. Her father Alphonso Brown made sure that Angelique only listened to these genres of music along with gospel. At 9 yrs. old she began taking piano lessons by Detroit concert pianist Gwendolyne Wright for 2 yrs. Due to complications with the piano instructior and parental differnces; her lessons abruptly ended.Present - pursuing her carreer as a vocalist in Europe. Singing, performing, writing and recording with various artists in jazz, house, neo-soul & afrobeat.February 2005 - Recorded, performed & wrote the lyrics for the release of "Don't Close Your Eyes". Produces by Alton Miller (legendary house dj / producer)May 2005 - Performed live at Club Soho in Brussels for the club opening V.I.P. night; singing a cover of Herbie Hancock's "Stars In Your Eyes".January 2004 - Joined the camp of Theo Parrish's Sound Signature, as a singer of the multi-talented band "The Rotating Assembly", featuring over 10 band members, of the jazz, hiphop, neo-soul and house genres.December 2003 - Recorded, performed and wrote the lyrics for the release of "Still Loved" on Sound Signature records. Produced by Piranhahead (house producer + composer).From 2000-2002 - Developing skills in songwriting and arranging personal musical compositions. Taking her inspirations from travelling, personal relationships and spiritual journeys.1994 - Performed as a featured guest on KMS records. For the release of "Don't Try It" 0-54, produced by house music composer Ron Trent and Anthony Pearson (Chez Damier), which was a global phenomenon in the house music industry.1991-1993 - Served as a volunteer for the Detroit "Montreux Jazz Festival". Venturing into the jazz community in Detroit, she began singing with different jazz trio's and groups around Detroit, for example: Wendell Harrison (saxophonist), Pamela Wise (pianist), Andrew Daniels (percussionist), Francicso Mora (drummer/percussionist); Cynthia Dewberry.1989-1990 - Developed her versatile music styles of singing at Western Michigan University. Performing live with the talented "Western Community Singers". Perfotming jazz, soul, funk, gospel, ans standards. As a soloist, and very disciplined harmonies, this experience would be beneficial for recording 5-part harmonies all performed by Angelique.1989 - Recieved extensive musical training as a member of 8 Choirs, of the Burns 7th Day Adventist Church. These choirs trained her in reading scales, vocal technique, musical arrangements, harmonies, the different genres of music ranged from contemporary gospel, opera, hymns, classical, and negro spirituals.
