GOD KING Req Daley!! !baby!

About Me

Req Daley is a talented rapper, philosopher, educator, and athlete, not to mention a loving father, who is very business oriented. He began his young life on the mean streets of “Homicide” Hollis Queens, taking the less of two traveled roads. Young kids could either get in trouble, which Req would rather not do, or play sports, not only a pastime for him but something he was great at. Being one who excels at everything he does, sports became his saving grace from the streets and the darkness that was lurking behind every corner. He was an above average basketball player, always practicing to get better, but baseball is where he truly excelled. In fact, he was so talented he had the opportunity to play in a Little League World Series in Asia. While in Asia, he played 10 games in Japan and 5 games in China. One of Req’s teammates was Nelson “Figgy” Figueroa and their competitors along the way were other superstar athletes such as Manny Ramirez and Frankie Rodriguez to get there!!! It is an amazing feat that Req was able to keep his focus on the sports he was involved in. After each practice and every game he would he pass neighborhood drug dealers to get home. Req never made the time to even stop and chat, he headed straight home to the basement for hip hop creating, often leaving a hot shower and hot meal until later. Req began his love for hip hop after hearing B.D.P’s “The Bridge Is Over.” From that point on Req begin to write countless lyrics, ignoring the critics he encountered along the way. He was very introverted when it came to his poetry skills, often writing during trips with the basketball or baseball team. It wasn’t until late 87’early 88’ that this changed, according to Req. It was at this time, Req met two friends with similar ambitions. Realizing the cohesion of their skills together, they formed a trio called Diamonds & Dollars. They were soon known for “dropping those gems and making sense.” After watching and developing an admiration for Jam Master Jay (RIP) at numerous parties, parks, and soon after MTV, Req quickly learned many tricks. He was soon able to create wicked special effects with music, using all of the necessary equipment to do well as a house D.J. Req continued to perfect his very own play, pause and cut style he created and was known for by his mixed tapes that often could be heard rocking house parties, block parties or whatever the event. Meanwhile, he remained dedicated to creating unique and aspiring rhymes. Obviously driven by his passion for music, he continued perfecting his craft while hanging out with friends like Chris Black, O one and JaRule, to name a few regulars in his hood. In addition, Req began seeing and meeting D.J.s like Clue, Chucky Madness and a host of others. Shortly after turning 17 years old, Req and his family left New York. He moved from the Big Apple to the “Big D”, otherwise known as the DFW area. He quickly adapted to a different school and different sports teams. Once acclimated to DFW, Req continued to develop hip hop music that, not before long, contributed to the underground circuit. “It was easy to find venues,” he says. He rapidly made a name for himself and everyone with whom he came in contact with. Req will tell you he’s like Midas “cause everything he touches exposes the gold underneath.” Even though Req soon felt at home in the DFW area, he still would head back to New York during any breaks in school and between the various sports seasons. Free styling over his own beats, Req Daley soon became more confident as a solo artist. Entering contest after contest, he would soon form another group called ELEMENTS who performed @ CHANNEL LIVE!!! “That was one of the best shows, because the sound was unbelievable,” says Daley. Req felt a certain magnetism to this show, perhaps because at this same show he met EPATOMED members Lord Saahir and Kasar. These three talented artists exchanged numbers and shortly after Req was invited over. Req entered what he thought was their home but was in fact a pre-production studio. At that moment, an instant bond was formed and Req was solicited to become part of the group. He accepted this invite and eagerly picking up everything he could about the recording process…the rest is magic!! Soon it was off to do shows in Austin, Houston, Waco, Colleen, Denton, Paris…you name it! EPATOMED literally performed hundreds of shows, twice weekly and often weekend gigs too! Within a year, EPATOMED began winning awards such as “Best Hip Hop Group” in the Dallas Observer and the Fort Worth Weekly in 1999 and 2000, simultaneously. This is a feat that has still not been accomplished by any other underground hip hop group in the DFW area since!! The legendary EPATOMED remained dominant on the underground hip hop scene until 2003. It was on January 27, 2003 when Lord Saahir met his demise, with a reckless truck driver, in a car accident. At the time of his passing Saahir had begun negotiations with major labels. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, many fans were devastated by the state of EPATOMED. On the other hand, thanks to Req, fans became hopeful again knowing all business had been left in the hands of a trusted protégé, Req Daley. After a short stagnant period of grieving, Req was given the strength from Lord Saahir to revive the legendary EPATOMED. Req diligently continues to run this independent label, Knowledge Born Productions, with a strong following of producers, D.J.s, Rappers, Singers and Musicians. Everyone affiliated with EPATOMED is determined to reach the level of superiority the Lord Saahir expects!! Req Daley’s rap style is a raw, yet smooth, brand of consciousness with “The most” unique delivery. His music can be purchased in stores across the country. Req is also featured at the top of the rotation on D.J. EZ Eddie D’s Hip Hop show on 89.3 FM KNON. Req Daley is always available to perform as solo act or with his strong soldiers by his side. “It is always a truly amazing show,” says one fan! Being versatile is one of his many exceptional attributes.
