About Me

..

borest is a boy. he lives in the city. he likes bikes and girls, sun and ice cream and the sounds of cars and sirens. one day borest meets frook. frook is a girl. she lives in the country. she likes trees, birds and mushrooms and the sounds of leaf litter bugs. they are her best friends until she meets borest. when borest meets frook they instantly fall in love. then love grows into music. music seeds magic. folk from the four corners of the forest are gathered. the folkestra brings love and life to songs about mysterious people and magical places. watch out for flying crows, pandas and corkbots.

Influences: well, hum. birds and bees. sunshine, little surprises like when someone pretty holds the door open for you, or when the bus conducter pulls out the smallest harmonica you've ever seen and plays a superduper tune on it to an old man, and when someone you pass on the street gives you a signed paperito to say they wrote all the great hits by the beatles, abba, queen. most of all when you meet a new musicker and the little hairs on the back of your neck stand on end when you pluck things together. then the world is a better place.....we like music that music makers make....like aphex twin, badly drawn boy, the bees, be good tanyas, belle and sebastian, beth gibbons, boards of canada, the books, chris clark, coldcut, colleen, dj shadow, the earlies, brian eno, frog pocket, fourtet, victor gama, jose gonzales, gonzales, gorodisch, matthew herbert, isan, juana molina, kings of convenience, koop, lalo schiffrin, manitoba, matmos, money mark, mr scruff, jim o'rourke, plaid, steve reich, saint etienne, state river widening, sufjan stevens, susanna and the magical orchestra, yann tierson, tunng, yo la tengo , james yorkston. music we have always loved: herb alpert, authechre, bach, john barry, beethoven, hildegard von bingen, kate bush, johnny cash, the chieftans, sandy denny, nick drake, leslie duncan, the funk brothers, lionel hampton, herbie hancock, bob james, bert jansch, ricky lee jones, roland kirk, kraftwerk, led zeppelin, john martyn, theolonious monk, dolly parton, penguin cafe orchestra, linda perhacs, prince, erik satie, nina simone, raymond scott, stevie wonder, suzanne vega
