About Me

I am a professional artist, which doesn't seem to have a category here, and also work in photography as well to the benenfit of a potential model.
I specialize in illustration, portraiture, and figure work, and enjoy working with models in a collaborative process over them being simply "wax fruit". I always prefer models who have ideas and enjoy being part of GOOD art.
I am especially interested in working with figure models who have fuller figures and curves, plus-size, ethnicity, pregnant, and family (sisters, siblings, etc). These have been historically difficult to find for me, and I want to expand my portfolio. I sincerely appreciate real body types and expressive faces. Those that don't think they are modeling material can be some of the best for my work.
I work somewhat differently than most artists; I work primarily from photo reference with a professional photographer in a studio environment. This is beneficial for light and detail, and for the model, in my opinion.
My model release/contract legally states that the photo reference will be used only for the creation of the art, and never sold, displayed, transferred or published, with myself retaining all rights. This is for the benefit of amateur models, and figure work where the model would not normally be receptive because of the "image preference" issues is can cause. As I do not make my wage off of the photography, I am always happy to release the unselected reference material to the model for use in portfolio. This can help new models build their portfolios, or experienced models have pieces that are different, as well as a sometimes new experience. Examples of my portfolio development photography can be seen on my referenced website above.
I also try to set aside some time at the end of a shoot for the model to work on anything they would like that is portfolio-specific. I also provide a copy of any artwork I do of the model.
While I do not at all work exclusively with art-nude, when I do, I only do classically-inspired, tasteful poses when working with figure. For portraiture, I prefer models who have or can present a timeless look over the more edgy high-fashion look. Good facial expressions, ability to "gesture", and dance and acting experience is always a plus.
I am always receptive to ideas from the model if there is something they would like to be a part of, or a look they would like to create.
If any of this is of interest, I encourage you to contact me and discuss projects. A portfolio of my work is available at my website , and references are always available.
I encourage you to follow links to my friends in my top friends below. Much of my work is proudly featured in their profiles, and also on my web portfolio.
**I am looking for an artists model who has classical or modern dance experience. Contact me if you are interested.
