I came to the United States Senate to represent the people I grew up with, people who can’t afford lobbyists and don’t care one bit about the partisan games in Washington. All they want is to work hard and give their kids a chance for a better life. I work hard every day to make sure that regular North Carolinians have a voice in their government.I helped write and pass legislation to reduce prescription drug prices and guarantee that people in HMOs and other insurance plans get the health care they pay for. I helped craft the No Child Left Behind Act to make sure all our children have a chance to reach their potential. Legislation I helped write improved airport security, made our seaports safer and reduced our vulnerability to bioterrorism. I helped increase corporate accountability and pass sweeping campaign finance reform. I led the opposition to new regulations that would make our air more polluted.Above all, I’m proud to represent North Carolina’s interests, supporting our farmers, working to promote our economic interests, and making sure our state gets the help it deserves.
