I am here for Friends

About Me

Last month, I had a couple of friends in town. The three of us had never been together at one time before, and with our twisted sense of humor, we couldn’t stop laughing. It was suggested that perhaps I should write a book entitled “As Brad Sees It”. While I won’t write a book, I do have this page. Due to the skewed nature in which I look at things, I feel this note is in order. Someone reading the blog, without knowledge of this preface, may think that I am bigoted; I am not. I see targets for humor in many places. Some places just hold more targets than others. But, be warned, my humor background is pretty sordid. I was born a poor black child… oh, wait, that was Steve Martin, in The Jerk. Born in the early 60’s, my humor developed in the 70’s. I grew up in a small town of less than 5K, (I’m still there). Not much to do now, even less back then. So, at 15, with no car to go anywhere, all I had was the TV. Back in the olden days (1976) you were damn lucky if you got 6 channels on your TV, including UHF. And TV was NOT 24 hours a day like it is now, it was off at 2 am. If you couldn’t sleep, too bad. VCR, forget about it, not for a few more years, and ALOT more dollars (my first VCR was $700)then you would even consider now. When Pong (the first video game system) came out, there was finally something to do when nothing good was on TV, but old black and white reruns of I Love Lucy and The Real McCoys. Weekends were highlighted by Saturday Night Live (the REAL SNL) and Monty Pythons Flying Circus on PBS. During the week, nights were mostly filled with rock and roll records, and large doses of Cheech and Chong in between. The highly under rated “Sleeping Beauty OD-40”, with it’s track, Uncle Pervy, was a favorite. One hell of a background, don’t ya think? The point to all this was, the humor I enjoyed most, was satire. Satire allows you to poke fun, without animosity or hate, but for the sake of the laugh. Please remember that while reading my blog. I like to hang out with just about anyone. Born and raised a vegetarian, (yes Ana, I have NEVER eaten a hamburger) I don’t have an issue with going out to eat with non-veggie friends. Standing rule though, is don’t try and get me to eat your meat. I have had a few beers with some gay friends, where the same standing rule applies. Outspoken –YES, Opinionated – YES, Offensive – Sometimes, Serious – Rarely, Trying to make someone smile – Always. Those of you that know me will see I have not changed. Those getting to know me will get a look at many things, in ways you can’t imagine. If you’re cool with that, hang around. If not, I hope you will at least check out some of the bands on my page, maybe even watch some of my videos. The bands consist of some GREAT guys. Get out and support local/independent music. Whatever you decide, I hope you have some fun.

Ok, loyal readers. First, my apologies for not posting my demented revalations more often. I have a nice draft on summertime, and dropping the kids off at the pool, but alas, I took to long to tend to...
