Sounds Like: Buzz, something that is one of the hardest gains to build in such an oversaturated industry today. The whole grind of building a buzz in the streets, online, is a steep process and if your not anything special you're gonna have a long way to go. We all know the politics of getting heard in the rap industry can be shaky, but what about the R&B singers? Yeah, are there really any DJ's that's creating a lane for underground R&B artist to get heard. I honestly can't think of one, but now Sixshot.com is letting you know they are here. Coming from the Uptown section (Shout out to West Oak Lane, Mt. Airy, and Germantown) of Philadelphia DJ Buzz loves him some R&B. Though he grinds heavy often on the hip-hop scene and goes hard with the reggae R&B is what he breathes. R&B brings in new faces to the game each year and now that you got DJ's like Buzz that shows love to the genre, he soon will be breaking some hot singer to the masses. Real humble and down to earth is what makes this man someone to support. If you show him respect he has no problem looking out. Keeping it authentic and 100% Buzz Worthy is what he lives for. Sixshot.com: I'm once again showing love to a fellow Philly native and another DJ from the city. Getting down with my man DJ Buzz what do you have to bring to the game? DJ Buzz: What I'm a bring to hip-hop right now is a change. I'm really going the R&B way with mixtapes pushing underground R&B. I'm tryna do everything in hip-hop, rap, pop, but my main focus right now is underground R&B. I'm trying to get in a new lane and new outlet. Sixshot.com: Most DJ's go hard doing they thing on the hip-hop scene, but why DJ Buzz chose the R&B lane? DJ Buzz: Because basically everybody out here is doing hip-hop. People are doing they thing with hip-hop with the all exclusive mixtapes, all the hot music and the down south stuff. I'm tryna do something completely different and there is nobody doing R&B mixtapes right now. Sixshot.com: So are the R&B mixtapes really different than putting together a hip-hop tape? DJ Buzz: Yeah I find it a little bit different, because you don't know about unsigned R&B artist. You don't really see them when they come out so I open up a new lane for them as there is new R&B talent that you never heard of. You can't even buy them in the store, but you can hear them on my mixtape. That's what I'm basically doing being an A&R to the street pushing people who would not normally get heard, be heard. Sixshot.com: Every rapper always try to holla at DJ's when it comes to getting a spot on their mixtapes. What do you look for when it comes to giving an R&B artist a spot on your tape? DJ Buzz: I'm listening to their vocals, their voice, and songwriting skills if their a song writer. I check if their hooks is catchy, their talent, I just look for a whole bunch of different things that should come with a well talented R&B artist. Sixshot.com: I see you have a strong passion for R&B, so did you ever consider singing yourself? DJ Buzz: Nah [laughs], I can't. I just love pushing people who have the talent to do it. Sixshot.com: So who are some of your favorite R&B artist of all time? DJ Buzz: Baby Face, Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, and right now doing his thing is Ne-Yo. Sixshot.com: So are you working with any R&B artist right now? DJ Buzz: Right now I'm working with three R&B artist one is Jaola, another is Benny Jay and she's my best kept secret, and the other is Jai Simone. They the three you should look out for and I'm also working with some rappers. One of them is Worda Mouth, and the other is D.C. and my man Static who got a mixtape coming out. You check them out on my MySpace at www.myspace.com/djbuzz4u. Sixshot.com: It's funny you call yourself DJ Buzz as your job is a DJ is to help artist build buzz, but explain origins of the name? DJ Buzz: I'm Jamaican and when I was in Jamaica they said I used to have a crazy attitude so they called 'madman buzza'. They used to call me that so I just took it and ran with it. That how I came up with the whole Buzz Worthy Ent. It was something I like that just tagged on to me. Sixshot.com: So you being a DJ did that come from your Jamaican influence too? DJ Buzz: Yeah, no lie when I first started I was an all reggae DJ. When I met a guy named DJ Wax Spinner he showed me the skills of being a turntablist and from there I fell in love with music. I've been doing since I was 16 on a professional level taking it seriously, but I've been DJing since I was 13. Sixshot.com: Your working with a couple artist, but being a Philly native how you feel about the scene in the 215 right now? DJ Buzz: Well right now I feel the man Gille Da Kid is doing his thing bringing the 215 together. It's love, everybody is working with each other on each other songs, no battling each other, and it's a real good movement. Philly is doing their thing and I hold my girl DJ Diamond Kuts down. She is doing her thing working on her album and if anybody tryna get at DJ Diamond Kuts get at me. She is trying to get mad people on her album, mad artist. I'm just showing love, it's not all about me. We from the 215 so it's really brotherly love right now. Sixshot.com: Diamond Kuts is one of the biggest DJ's in the city so where do ya'll relationship stem from? DJ Buzz: Me and Diamond Kuts been chilling way before she even got on to the Power 99 scene. It worked out crazy, because we both love music and our relationship is more than just music. Were just a great team right now. Sixshot.com: Talk about your company Buzz Worthy Entertainment? DJ Buzz: Buzz Worthy Entertainment is a movement bringing the hottest stuff out. It's on the rise as I'm still building it getting ready for it to become one full team. We basically trying to become a production company and A&R company trying to find new talent all the time. Artist development is what were about and basically trying to help people where they need to be. Buzz Worthy Entertainment is entertainment anywhere. Shout out to the Sniper DJ Squad too.
